I wasn't really liking the first concept sketch of this particular Kirin who is a Supporting character in my book. This turned out a whole lot better. The only thing that is a little of is the antlers as I totally messed the perspective up and didn't realize it until I inked. Whoops. I should have tiled them more...Anyhoot I like the Kirin body design on this one better than my other one so this will likely be the one I will use for writing. The color turned out a lot better this time too.

Probably because I am not finished yet 
The title at the moment is Shield and Sword, Cloak and Dagger: The War of the Five Mirrors... Yeah... I think I am going to change that and just keep the individual sections titled after the original idea and come up with something else--as it is is will end up at least in two separate books maybe three. But I figure I will wait until I actually finish the entire thing before I do that.
You are actually the first person to ask, its kind of funny considering I have a whole folder of the concept art I have been doing to help me visualize characters and evolve them. Thank you for your interest. The reason I don't post anything written (Here on DA or otherwise) from it is one because it's enormous (Somewhere around 300,000 words and still counting) and two I really don't want to play with possible plagiarism from people. I may do an excerpt if someone requests one with a picture sometime or I do a scene illustration.

It must be contagious. I have another kirin in the works in a similar pose (more normal antlers though).

That antler style is the one I generally use for my kirin. I love the recurved elk antlers. Its a fun pose.
