Description Jormungandr, brother to Fenris, son of Loki and Angrbooa. At the time of RagnarΓΆk Jormungandr will break free from the oceans of Midgard and rise to the surface to thrash his tail with savage fury, causing untold destruction from the waves. His nostrils will spew noxious gas which will poison the sky. When the time comes for the day of reckoning, Odin will charge into the serpent's maw and be devoured in a single bite. Thor will summon all of the lightning of the world into one hammer blow, erupting the head of the monster, killing him instantly. Thor will then take nine steps before dieing from Jormungandr's poison. Surt, the fire demon, will then burn the world with his flaming sword. Nothing will survive.

This is how the world will end.

This actually inspired me to do a writing prompt on the big guy! Took a wildly different direction from the original mythology, granted, but thank you for getting me to write again after over a year of inactivity!

There comes Fenris' twin
His jaws are open wide
The serpent rises from the waves

Jormungandr twists and turns
Mighty in his wrath
The eyes are full of primal hate

Wait, why is modern transportation interacting with Norse mythology?

Kind of ruins the theme ;-;

Hum, no it doesn't? Because there is no specif time of when the ragnarok will happens?

Isn't that the point? Its the Ragnarok occurring in current times, bit of a contrast.

I mean, the original tale took place in the period it was made probably, but this is a new interpretation, its like...the Bible had the revelations story which was about the end times, and that probably took place thousands of years ago, but I still found pictures of versions of it taking place in a more modern eraΒ

I am doing a blog post on my webpage and I was curious as to if I could use this image to show a strong depiction of the world serpent. Obviously, I hold no claim to this image or its rights. I felt it proper of me to ask permission, first

First I wanted to say "nope, just a fish trawler" until I realized that that up there looks a damn lot like a sub.
Poor crew!

Another fantastic work, will there be more from that series?
Though, more would probably only be the fire demon that burn everything...
