...who smells of STRAWBERRIES.Oh yes, I so went there. I had to go there. I was tempted to do so sooner or later, and when I finally found the official Toy Story 3 movie magazine and managed to buy it AND saw that there were drawing tutorials for some the the characters including Lotso, I just HAD to. Simple enough. Not to mention that it was pretty helpful when it came to his basic dimensions, and I was planning on drawing him anyway. *shrugs*
And aside from outlining, I drew him completely with ball-point pen. I originally planned on coloring him soon after the line art, but then I started to draw/shade in his fur and got carried away after. And then realized that, if I colored him after all that then Lotso would be really, REALLY dark in this, because I color/shade things really dark anyways.
As for what I think of Lotso (without revealing too much) well, at first I ended up HATING him by the time the climax hit, and because of what happened to Chatter Tellephone (cause he's my favorite new character from the movie. Don't ask, 'cause I don't even know why). And for well, you know. However, I still feel a little sympathetic for him, considering his Freudian Excuse, despite crossing the Moral Event Horizon. In other words? I'm not sure if I should be a part of his hatedom or be a Lotso fan. Maybe I should just pick the third option. *has obviously been browsing through TV Tropes*

Yeah, and not to mention that it's that whatever torture/abuse he put them through while they were still at Sunnyside was also put upon A LOT of previous "Newer Toys", possibly even worse. It makes me wonder sometimes just how exactly tying him to the hood of a garbage truck really does him justice...

The image kind of defeats the point of the character however. He was supposed to be evil, but to not look evil

I know that Lotso isn't supposed to look evil, but I wasn't intending on making him smile or look non-threatening in this piece in the first place, like he did when he first encountered Woody and company. This is more of a picture portraying him showing his true, more strict and even sadistic colors, particularly showing traits of his during the later parts of the movie.
But I will admit though- the fact that I did draw Lotso with all black pen rather than coloring his fur does make him look more menacing...

Thank you! The drawing guide is pretty neat, and does a really good job of breaking the characters down drawing wise. Even though their should have been a tutorial to draw Woody completely rather than just his head, but even then I still like it. ^-^.

I agree! Woody's whole body would have been better, but considering how many steps it took just to draw his head it might have ended up taking up have the magazine. xP

There was a preview up on Amazon for a while, but they took it down (probably do to spoliers). It showed all kinds of progression of the characters and layouts of the caterpillar room and such.
