Slowly recovering from the critical injuries she sustained in a skirmish against the Kol, Sojir is found by the old warrior, Kjall. He has been in her place before, and while his time as a keeper has most certainly set, he is convinced that hers is just beginning. Sojir is not so sure. Her foreleg was dislocated in the fight, and though the menders set it right, she still remains unable to put weight on it without terrible pain. Kjall tries to encourage her, offering words of wisdom the young combatant is not quite ready to hear. She feels defeated--not just physically, but emotionally too. The wounds across her heart are much deeper. In the end, Kjall leaves her with a piece of advice: focus on what you can make of the situation.
