Sweet! Used to have a pair of t-shirts that had dragons as WWI fighter aircraft (Sopwith Dragon and Fokker Drake). Β Alwasy thought this was a great bit of alt history!

Reminds me of a dragon with pilots in modern garb that I drew in the 90's. This is much, better, of course.

The piece was about 11 x 17 and was never finished (Still have it somewhere). I was in a stippling phase at the time and that phase was quashed by both the dragon's scales and the massive wings I decided to draw. I haven't stippled since...

Awesome! Can't wait to see what's next.... Giant Soviet cyclops w/ sicle and hammer? Panzer dragon? Minotaur Marines? Loch Nessie U-boat?Β

Love the bunching of the fur around the harness. Really adds to the character, for me.

Really love the concept of World War 2 in a fantasy setting. Maybe you should do some dragons because they 'spit fire'

awesome! great foreshortening on the wings; and i second the comment that the long neck really helps the design.

i like the gryphon's design better with a longer neck. it reminds more of a bird on the front half of a lion that way, which is a good thing. the snub-necked gryphons that dominate the fantasy landscape never really do it for me
