This is really incredible. How long have you been drawing for?

Thanks Baz - sorry about the 4 year wait for a reply.
I had been drawing about 3 years or so at this stage.

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to FlutterDash75 [2013-07-17 13:27:34 +0000 UTC]
I assure you it IS a painting - I have no 3D software. ALL my paintings are done in photoshop, using the vanishing point tool to set up perspective grids. They look like they have been done with 3D software because I spend ages using the lasso tools to cut the shapes out, rather than simply paint freehand.
If I used 3D software, I would state that.
The vanishing point tool is only available in the 'extended' version of Photoshop. I can create grids and render them to a layer, which I use as a guide to align each element of my painting, making it look very accurate. It just takes time.

Thanks loads Iza - don't wish, just do.
I have to practice/work for clients 16 hours per day to be as good as i am. It's taken me 3 years from scratch, totally self taught, using books and youtube tutorials. It IS very hard, but if you practice for one month, every day for just 2 hours, you will be twice as good as you are now. Tell yourself every day that you are going to be an amazing artist, even when you feel frustrated and it all looks hopeless.
I still can't draw people, but I guarantee you I will one day, once I have practiced enough.
Draw what you love to draw, over and over and over. Look at as many photographs as you can before becoming saturated with boredom - this will help you to understand how things work, and how they look, making it much easier to create your own ideas. Copy or even trace images, as it helps your brain to understand and remember what objects look like. There is no special book, or special tutorial, it always comes down to practice, then you will realise how to make good artwork because your brain will work it all out.

Many thanks - I keep trying, but just wish I could get these things done faster - like in 2 days, rather than 5.

I can believe you. Sometimes mine still take that long to be honest, but when the pressure is there from the clients there is little choice, even it means no sleep for a week.

Ahh, I need a deadline to push me. Sometimes the deadline is very far away, and I feel I dont have enough contact with the client to push me.

Cheers as usual - yes, the smoothness is the result of the reflections and clean gradients.

Very nice work! I especially like the dirtiness on the floor next to the mop and also to the right of the biohazard box. The lighting and reflections are also superb. This definitely looks like it was 5 days work!!!
