Felt in the mood to draw an old crank back in his Prime. Funny to think that around the same time we had the CG-Rendered Simian that's become more common place today, we also had this take that was closer to his roots (while also rocking that classy necktie). ~
Also for those that want a good laugh, you should see what it was like the last time I drew ol' DK. I wanna say this picture's pushing 8 Years now ->

Nintendo should have used DK's 94 design for Cranky, but in old(Personally I would give him glasses, a long beard, a Walking stick and maybe a red Bow tie instant sweater-vest) but still the body statue as 94's DK, since I think it would a nice reference to Pre-RareWare DK ^^

if they remade the Donkey Kong 94 Gameboy game in the same vain of Link's Awakening (tho obviously not the same artstyle)
would you be ok if they used Current Donkey Kong's design instead of the Classic Donkey Kong arcade design?
I'm torn myself since I like both but I know people who care about continuity would be really upset about it

I wouldn't be phased if they kept his current look for a Donkey Kong GB remake, though I would prefer to see how the classic look handles with today's technology. xD

And to think that this Donkey Kong design ended up being the one used for the Game & Watch Gallery series! Apparently Nintendo didn't have the rights to create their own hand-drawn illustrations of Rare's DK design then (seeing as how those games were made before the modern DK came fully under Nintendo's ownership)?

Nice, you've really captured the old Mario art style! Back then, I used to think this DK was just the current DK's original design before Nintendo redesigned him rather than him being a younger Cranky.
