Description

Part of a collaborative piece commissioned by Gator, with the linart by Deebs and the colors by me. Yes, I take commissions for coloring/collaborations.

Barby the Koala with a saxophone. Huzza. I used this as an opportunity to practice my comic book coloring style some more. Timed myself on how fast I could finish it and everything - still not satisfactory @_@ Oh well, I'll get there.

That sax was a pain in the neck to color, and I'm still not 100% happy with it. Curse you, gold, being so hard to render *FISTSHAKE* I'm fairly happy with the rest though.

I think the sax turned out lovely, but I do have the same beef with gold. >[

Thanks, you two. Jamie, I'm glad you suggested brown for the shirt color. It looks a lot better than the off-white material I originally suggested.

The sax has some great lighting to it, not too heavy shadow either, which makes things so much better for us as viewers! (I don't like seeing brass painted with heavy shadows, its just a pet peeve of mine. o__o)

ROCK ON!!! YEEAH!

It's very cute, and the shading style you've adopted is shiny and eyecatching. I think the gold looks pretty good, but what can really make it pop is to shade it with dark reds or purples. Of course, it depends on the image itself, but in the right context it can look pretty sharp. The reds might've worked well though, if only to, say, reflect the red of her gloves. Maybe the inside of the bell could stand to be a bit darker? Good stuff, though!

Dude, Catbee's lineart and your coloring skills reminds me of Yardley and Herms work!
