Description
Since getting netflix I've been spending a lot more time in front of the TV and less in front of the computer = traditional sketching, less digital work.I've been slowly making myself an orientalist costume over the past few months, and it keeps creeping into my drawings.
India ink + pencil + a tad of color here and there in photoshop.

I'm always impressed by the tiny details you have the patience to draw--like the paisley pattern on the dress, and all the folds and wrinkles.
With the veil, it looks like a wedding dress. Beautiful!

sometimes I'm impressed by the tiny details I have the patience to draw. I look at the finished product and go "really?! I did that??" - I'm not a patient person, I think i do detailed art to try and teach myself.

lots and lots of practice. I've always liked clothing and costumes, when I was a little girl I would play with my barbie clothes after abandoning the dolls.

I'm trying to get myself geared back up for it. I finished the two tunic layers and then started worrying that, as a blonde white girl, I was going to look ridiculous in it. I think its because its been so long since i've done a non-European, historic costume.

Hehe. I think you'll look great - I actually think that Eastern styles look really great on just about everyone. It'd be different if it were, say, a dashiki, because it hasn't entirely entered broader world fashion. But I married an Asian guy and wore a cheongsam for part of my wedding, so I might be slightly biased.

its *sort of* like this. This is what I WISH it looked like, but I went for a little less fantasy and a little more in line with the costumes the orientalists painted.
