The basic kit of the mobile infantry of the Starship Trooopers book, the Marauder Suit.

True to their name of the "Mobile Infantry", the Marauder suit has thrusters that allow the MI to leap great distances around the battlefield. Their armor able to withstand enemy fire for a short time, but survivability is based on mobility, being trained in hit and run tactics. The suit is equipped with all types of detection equipment to seek out the enemy and avoid them when necessary. the MI are orbitaly dropped onto the battlefield, being deployed from the Navy, with a protective shell for the heat of reentry. Once deployed, a single MI is a one man army. The suit's hunched nature as well as the broad shouldered appearance has given the profile a gorilla like stance, hence the phrase "C'mon Apes, do you want to live forever?".

=Low Yield Thermonuclear Grenade Launcher

The MI rely on hit and run tactics based around their shoulder mounted low yield thermonuclear grenade launcher. The launcher itself uses a magnetic coil to launch their devastating ordinance. between the mobility of the troopers jet pack and the range of the launcher, a infantryman can easily avoid the explosion of this shoulder mounted atomic death dealer.

=Heavy Machine Gun (HMG)

If the MI has to hold ground or clear buildings/hallways they use a HMG with armor piercing delayed explosive warheads. It's ammunition designed to pierce pseudo-arachnid armor and then explode for maximum damage on the bug menace.

=designing the marauder

When designing the iconic suit i took inspiration from multiple depictions from the various interpretations of the book. The biggest inspirations were the anime OVA and the CGI animated TV series. The Starship troopers OVA probably has the most faithful depiction of the Marauder suit and how the MI fight. i wanted to take that heavy armored exo-skeleton and the giant jet pack, and combined it with the aesthetic of the armor of the MI in the "Starship troopers: Roughnecks" CGI series.
