The sepia tone itself happened naturally when I forgot about the paper for several years, and by the time I found it, it all turned a nice brown-golden colour.

I don't think they sell this paper in sepia colour sorry.

You could dye some paper with some tea.

Some artists do that to straight away give you that sepia colour.

how can i do that?

Jasqreate In reply to darkri97 [2011-06-03 06:13:19 +0000 UTC]

Kind of like what you do with watercolours.

You just brush tea or brown watercolour over a piece of paper completely and wait until it dries.

darkri97 In reply to Jasqreate [2011-06-03 06:16:13 +0000 UTC]

*nods* alright..so you just dip a brush in some tea and paint the paper?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasqreate In reply to darkri97 [2011-06-03 06:18:13 +0000 UTC]

Yep.

But just make sure that the tea is nice and cool (at room temperature or colder).
And use good quality paper too, because normal paper will just crumble as soon as you wet it.

would printer paper work?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasqreate In reply to darkri97 [2011-06-03 06:43:36 +0000 UTC]

...Not really no.

You *could* do it if you were to apply the tea lightly, otherwise it will just crumble.

It suits well for thick paper or watercolour paper.

Boy, I need to get some of that Monte paper. =0
It gives your work a subtle richer look I think. A nice break from plain ol' white printer paper. =]

Yeah the paper is something I tell you!

I don't know if they sell them anymore since this paper has been sitting in my storeroom for just over a year without being touched.

But it does bring some really nice effects to artworks drawn on it. ^^

geez how do you stop it from smudging?? your sketches are always so perfect XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasqreate In reply to In-The-Distance [2009-03-15 11:05:20 +0000 UTC]

I placed a piece of paper underneath my hand so that my skin doesn't smudge the artwork when I draw. :3

And thanks! ^^

In-The-Distance In reply to Jasqreate [2009-03-15 11:12:16 +0000 UTC]

lol i try that but then the paper just picks up the colour and smudges it anyway XD but well done for doing it successfully XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasqreate In reply to In-The-Distance [2009-03-15 11:16:45 +0000 UTC]

Oh really?

It must be the quality of the paper or that the pencils are WAY too easy to smudge...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

In-The-Distance In reply to Jasqreate [2009-03-15 11:19:16 +0000 UTC]

yeah, probably because there's so many layers of pencil there that they don't like sticking to the paper but it's also because i'm stupid enough to start colouring from right to left so as i move over my hand moves over what i just coloured XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasqreate In reply to In-The-Distance [2009-03-15 13:51:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah!

It's best to start from left to right if you're right handed.

Other handed, then the other way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

In-The-Distance In reply to Jasqreate [2009-03-16 06:00:58 +0000 UTC]

yeah i know, but i always forget that when i've already started colouring XD
also, i tend to use one colour on the whole thing and then go back with another, so i can't win XD

FaeOfDoom [2009-03-14 16:15:38 +0000 UTC]

oh wow awesome. this kinda reminds me of Snow White - the whole poisoned apple thing.

the fingers actually bother me XD especially how the pinky meets the hand.

geez hands have got to be one of the hardest things to draw.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jasqreate In reply to FaeOfDoom [2009-03-15 09:01:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I had to do a few attempts to draw the hand well until I was happy with it.

I think the hands are truly the hardest parts of the human body to draw. A pose of a hand can say so much, like a face expression.

And he does remind me of that evil witch from Snow White. I didn't know that until you pointed it out!
