I wanted to ask, I saw this character in a clip Genndey released about the flick he is working on.
What is this character exactly?

I take it you dug the test animation for Sony's Popeye feature?

Weeelllll.....
Let's just leave it at--I loved the ANIMATION. The designs and personalities left something to be desired.

I see what you mean, their personalities did feel a little restrained, but I've got a feeling those bugs will be worked out for the finished feature. I looked at it simply as a test of the technology and technique. Granted, I'm not exactly an authority on Popeye by any means, but I'm willing to give Mr. Tatravosky (probably butchered that) and his cohorts a little faith. (Repeatedly knocks on the nearest redwood.)

I'm sure I'll see it when it comes out, just to see for myself. But from what I'm hearing from a friend who's working on the production (and is a long time artist for the Popeye license), Popeye will NOT have tattoos, will NOT have a pipe, and will be wearing a black t-shirt, rather than his sailor shirt, and sneakers. The kid-ification of what was a fun, bawdy and rambunctious cartoon is just really disappointing.

Wow....yeah, that is disappointing as all get out to hear. I really hope that they either change their minds, or the action and story are as rambunctious as the old cartoons. It'd be a sad, sad day to see Popeye pull punches.

Love the way you color, you make use of the absence of color and blend so well, along with your carefully place cross-hatchings, I really love when you do hand drawn work

I remember a Popeye cartoon series--I think it was the Popeye Hour in the late 70's to early 80's--when I first saw Eugene the Jeep and all of Popeye's friends. Β Great work, and keep on spreading the Popeye love.
