Something has been bugging me about my Mapleshade design for a while. It looks pretty good on the ref sheet, but I never liked how it looked in any of the illustrations I made with Mapleshade in them. So I finally decided to revamp my Mapleshade design. Here's the finished product of that.

Mapleshade is described as a large, thick-furred she-cat with a fluffy tail, a massive, scarred head, a scarred, broad muzzle and face, and ragged, patched, matted fur.

I’ve always pictured her as a big, ragged floof of a cat, so I definitely tried to get that across here, especially with her tail. Her scars are different from her old design, and there’s more of them now. I probably should’ve scarred up her face some more going by her description, but eh.

For her pattern, Mapleshade is described as a tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat with a white muzzle, white patches, and amber eyes. I changed up her colors from her old design, as I felt her old shade of ginger was too bright. I tried to keep the tabby pattern fairly similar to the old one, but not identical.

I also changed up her tortie markings a lot. I always liked the interpretation of her design that mashed together her tortie-and-white and ginger-and-white description by making her a mostly ginger tortie-and-white, so that’s what I went with here. ^^

She has the white patches she’s described with on her back and side, and per part of her description previously, she has a mostly-white tail. Her eyes are the same shade of amber as before.

A lot of the designs I see for her are mostly black or have a really dark shade of ginger, which are great, but I always pictured her as a lighter ginger, and I’m really happy with how that turned out here.

Overall, I’m really happy with how this turned out. ^^
