I just realised the sun looks like the initial flash of a nuclear detonation. Gives the photo a whole new meaning, and makes it a little sad for me.

It's my fault! I shouldn't have noticed that nuclear flash!

Yeah, I thought the sun looked really funky too. I'm not usually a big fan of sun shots like that, but people seem to like them, so I said what the heck, and here it is. Thank you.

It's actually a good composition too. You have observed the Rule of Thirds, and it's also a good thing you didn't put the sun in the centre. Next time you should try to shoot in RAW instead of JPG. That way you'll get some extra colour information and a higher dynamic range.

I keep hearing about shooting in RAW. My bro. tried it and I'm not positive how it turned out for him. I must investigate.

Actually you won't notice the difference until you start to do some post editing. Since it's 16 bit (JPG is 8 bit) you can bring out more details in the dark and the light areas afterwards. You'll be quite surprised sometimes. RAW is also used for producing HDR images and other 'weird' things. But in most cases you'll be just fine using JPG. Read some more here: [link]

Yeah, I hear it has a lot more details. I'm yet to try it though. Thank you for the link. I'll check it out now.
