Description A shading tutorial that you guys wanted, even though I didn't want to do it because I couldn't understand how I should do this... orz

This tutorial is mainly for SAI, but if you think you can use a brush similar to the marker tool and can blur correctly, feel free to try in another program. ^^

Um, I forgot to add this, but if it helps, you can stick the base color and the shading all into a folder to make it a bit easier to see. (I personally do it)

Large file is large...

Um, I think this is large enough for you to read without me having to copypaste all the text... and that it's easy enough to understand considering I've been told by my best friend that I'm a terrible teacher. .________.

Um, finished product (which is unusually neat).

Hmm... do you have a coloring tutorial? This shading tutorial helped me a lot but I have no idea how to color in these sorts of programs.

Sorry, but no. For me, I use the wand tool on the outside, expand a bit (so the colors don't go out of the lineart), use the select tool to fix up corners, then invert and color. Hope that helps

Omygosh, thank you!!! That works so well!
I just switched from GIMP to FireAlpaca and it's my first time working in a program like this. This helped so much, thank you!

With the last step, after locking opacity, does coloring in the lineart not affect the shading within? Or do you have to carefully and painstakingly outline every line with the color?

As long as you have the lineart in a seperate layer with all the colors, you can just slap whatever colors on you want without having to trace the lines by hand. xD

Nice!
I normally take the easy way out and use multiply layers... OTL
But some day if I don't want to be lazy I'll try this method
