While in One Piece archeologists are not essential, they can be great at talking about the historical backgrounds of many places and again finding out new stuff in their journeys. I have a feeling half the crew would have interest in her occupation while the other would not. With Kid, he would take interest since he's always on the search for any bit of information. I also like to think that Madge is kind of like a tropical themed nerd who stands out in a group of metal themed people. She tries to fit in by adding leather to her wardrobe which does work a bit but the nerdy girl from Rasta Rock shines through and I can so see Kid calling her such a nerd out of affection.
