In that case, they'd probably have an additional stage for Pop Star and they'd have to edit the cutscenes slightly.

Well in the original game, only Kirby was playable, though Dedede was playable in some levels. Ribbon held onto the Crystal Shards, Waddle Dee provided vehicles for Kirby to use in some levels, and Adeleine would either paint Maxim Tomatoes, 1Ups, & Invincible Candy to help Kirby or paint clues to getting a particular Crystal Shard.
I can only see Meta Knight doing something similar to what Dedede does; take over for Kirby in certain segments on some stages, where he'll become playable.

The problem of the forgotten characters is a bad issue, and it affects many series (Sonic - Mighty, Fang, etc; Mario - Tatanga, Wart, Geno...).
Kirby has this problem too. Unfortunatelly Adeleine looks like one of those characters...
Too bad that she is my favorite character of the series.
Honestly, I like Ribbon, but she feels a lot like a one shot character, so I'm kinda fine with the fact that she doesn't appear anymore... but Adeleine? She was introduced as one of Kirby's recurring friends, being in Kirby's Dreamland 3 and Kirby 64... then, for some reasons, she disappeared. Rumors say that she was purposely forgotten due to Sakurai not wanting human characters in Kirby, and that's bad.
Ok, she's human, but what's the problem. She's not a realistic human, she's a 10 inch height girl made by a circle (face) and a triangle (body), she has just few more details than Poppy Bros. I just can't see the issue.
That's not the only character that risks to be forgotten.
The animal friends have been recently reintroduced, kinda (Kirby Fighters, Kirby Rainbow Curse cameo), but only the original 3 animals. Chuchu, Nago and Pitch disappeared. Gooey disappeared. Daroach and the squeaks probably disappeared, and even Chef Kawasaki is appearing less and less.
Looks like today most of the Kirby fans only care about Bandana Dee (and someone about Magolor too), but they seem to be happy with the fact that the other characters are disappearing. I read a lot of people saying "there are better characters", "they are old", or other ridicolous excuses like these ones. Probably this is due to the character suggestions for Super Smash Bros. ; They wanted Bandana Dee in Smash, so any other Kirby character was a rival to him, and it was better if that character was removed from the franchise.
I'm a bit annoyed by the fact that the Kirby franchise nowadays is just Kirby, Meta Knight, Dedede, Bandana Dee and a random one shot character inspired by Marx each new game; I want the other Kirby friends making a return sometime, even just as a cameo or in minigames.
Now, in Rainbow Curse, there is a paintbrush-fairy that does what probably Adeleine would have made better... the fact is that the fairy has rainbow hairs and no legs, so she's not human, she can be in the Kirby franchise right? It's better for that fairy to not be the final boss tricking Kirby into her trap, like Marx and Magolor.
I'm not against new characters, I'm just against replacing characters, replacing their role.

To be honest, I never really saw what was so popular about Mighty, Wart, or Tatanga, though Fang and Geno are indeed cool characters. And yes, it may seem like Adeleine is one of those unfortunate characters, but my philosophy is to stay optimistic and show some fan support, and eventually she'll come back (in fact, I'm kinda hoping Adeleine gets in Super Smash Bros. 4 as DLC)!
The rumors are half right; Sakurai said he didn't want any human characters in the anime, he didn't say that goes for the games too. It's just a matter of not including the character, which saddens me... Also, I get the feeling that Kirby: Right Back at Ya! takes place before Kirby's Dream Land, so characters like Adeleine, Gooey, etc. have yet to become relevant at that point in the series. And I'm guessing she may be at least three feet max, since Kirby is roughly under half of Mario's height, who is around five feet tall.
Anyone who wants to get rid of older characters in the franchise just because they're old aren't exactly fans; if the character is good, it doesn't matter how old they are (for example, earlier I said I don't care for Mighty, Wart or Tatanga, but I wouldn't mind seeing them return!). And why not both Bandanna Dee AND Adeleine?! That would be perfect, since we'd get the whole "64 Crew" (not counting Ribbon) along with Meta Knight! And the Smash Bros. community is the worst... Don't listen to them.
I saw the new character; she just makes me miss Adeleine more... I hope she's not a secret final boss, we don't want that to become a cliche for the series (one could argue that about Bowser kidnapping Peach all the time, but that's different; that's the extra motivation for Mario, not the goal to Bowser's overall plans, which do change from game to game). If you ask me, I think the final boss might just be Paintra!
All in all, they just might return really soon; tons of references have been made to the games Adeleine and the Animal Friends appear in; Kirby Triple Deluxe has a remix of the Ripple Star Castle theme, and Kirby Fighters even has Adeleine's battle theme from the same game. I'm guessing there will be a second Wii U Kirby game after Rainbow Curse that follows the traditional gameplay, and maybe then our classic favorites will make their long-awaited comeback!

Well put. I also agree with that theory of the anime serving as prequel to the series. It actually makes sense when you think about:
1. The anime is only Kirby material that gives us any look at Kirby's origin.
2. In the anime, Kirby's explicitly called a baby, yet game manuals for games like Kirby's Dream Land refer to him as a "little boy". It would make sense if he aged a bit since the show.
3. The anime Kirby is shown as being very immature and slow minded like a baby outside of battle. But the games have him act much more competently. It makes sense if Kirby's gotten more skill since then.
4. In the anime Meta Knight mentors Kirby. Meta Knight's behavior in Kirby's Adventure could be seen as way of testing his progress.
5. Speaking of which, the Japanese version of the show states that Nightmare will return as long as there is evil. Kirby's Adventure may have very well been is big stake out for revenge with Meta Knight secretly getting Kirby ready to fight him.
6. Rick and Coo aren't shown being THAT friendly with Kirby in the show. It's probable that they became closer over time.
7. And on the matter of better terms, many point out that the anime features Dedede being far more malicious than in games. This could be because after Nightmare's initial defeat and his defeat in Kirby Dream Land, Dedede eventually came to realize that being a cruel dictator was getting him nowhere, so he decided to mellow out to being more of an antivillian or frenemy as Play Nintendo puts it.
8. Some like to refer to the anime as strictly its own canon, yet HAL's actions seem to contradict. Quite a lot of things the anime introduced like Water Kirby, Meta Knight wrapping himself in a cape, Dedede's anime castle, and Kirby saying poyo came from the anime. More important though, Kirby Mass Attack actually canonized various anime only characters like Escargoon and Chef Shitake and had Nightmare appear AGAIN further proving his statement.
This one action alone pretty much proves that HAL still holds the show in regard and that it should not be outright discounted because of some inconsistencies as a few elements aside, the anime fits in as prequel shockingly well. This is also why I feel that it'd actually be possible to reboot the show as it'd be easy to call the show prequel based on these observations and they could simply adapt things to the games accordingly while debuting the game exclusive characters.
Phew...I've wrote a lot today.

Yeah, I'm for Bandana Dee AND Adeleine (especially because I agree with you that the Waddle Dee in K64 may be the same as Bandana Dee), I can't see why one character should exclude the other. That's probably just the Smash Bros Community.
Let's hope for the future.
I think that the absence of any Kirby 64 reference in the keychains of Triple Deluxe means something... I mean, there are all the mainstream Kirby games, including the remakes... and a keychain for Epic Yarn and Return to Dreamland. The only game mising is K64... and it's referenced multiple time in the game, but no keychains. I speculated that a remake on 3DS is very possible (just like Nightmare in Dreamland and Superstar Ultra).
Paintra as Rainbow Curse boss would make a lot of sense!
EDIT: Kirby characters are resized in Smash Bros. The canon height of Kirby is 8 inch. Adeleine is just a bit taller than Kirby, and shorter than Dedede so she could be around 10 inches maybe, that's why I said that.

JBX9001 In reply to Hoshi-no-Kaabii [2014-11-25 20:07:08 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, and I'd love to see a remake of Kirby 64 on the 3DS (or even Wii U)!
Kirby's canonical height is, to me, a topic of minor theorizing... Sure, they have said he's eight inches before, but I don't know for sure if that's been retconned with the creation of Adeleine and the release of the Super Smash Bros. games, since his height hasn't exactly been referred to since the aforementioned events (they've done that before, such as establishing that Mario is indeed from a fictional world rather than arriving there from Brooklyn in the real world with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island). I'd go further, but then this "comment" would turn into a research paper...
I can't say the same for Olimar though...

TimG5 In reply to JBX9001 [2015-08-06 16:19:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I am pretty sure they've retconned Kirby's height. Obviously they resize the characters on the stage. But even in the promotional trailers which portray the characters' height more realistically bar Olimar, Kirby's shown being much closer to 2 feet tall. Like at about 0:43 in this one:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEJBPM…
Or how Kirby appears in:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBoL1I…
You can tell they portray the characters more realistically in these trailers as Pikachu is just slightly smaller than Charizard during gamelplay yet is considerably smaller in the trailer. Heck, the Little Mac trailer actually makes fun of Samus and Little Mac's (accurate) height difference.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmtrmA…
Another point of interest is Dedede. If we assumed that HAL still believes that Kirby is 8 inches, that means Dedede can't be anymore than 3 feet tall. And yet Smash Bros Brawl and SSB4, which was led by Sakurai I should point out, treats him as one of the BIG characters on par with DK whose almost 7 feet tall. There's no way he can be only 2.5 times as tall as an 8 inch puff yet still be considered "big".
Heck, there's even discrepancy in the main games. In Kirby Dreamland 3, Kirby stands higher than Samus's knee caps who is confirmed to be 6 feet tall. As you said, they haven't referred to that since his trophy description in the original Smash Bros and that game came out barely a year after KD3. I think once Smash Bros became a successful franchise, HAL realized that it's silly for the main character to not be higher than ruler and have been operating more with a height of 2-3 feet in mind. Especially when you consider the fact that Popstar is about the same size Shiver Star, which basically Earth frozen, and how everything is proportionate in size to Kirby especially in recent games, and I highly doubt HAL is operating with the idea that Kirby is only 8 inches anymore. Height shouldn't be problem with getting Adeline back.
PS: Looks like I did the research paper for you.

That made me laugh.
But seriously HAL, you need to bring these two girls back. I feel that if there's one thing the Kirby series really needs, it's more cohorts for Kirby. HAL clearly has an explosive imagination, yet Kirby has so few in-game rivals and friends that still appear regularly. I love them for making Bandana Waddle Dee a staple since KRtD, but it's not enough. I am Kirby fans everywhere would fangasm if they brought these two and the animal friends back as staples too. Finally, someone notices that joke! I've had an idea of drawing how that situation would turn out (while keeping it on an all-audience level). Guess I forgot to actually draw it though...
And yes, they should definitely bring back Ribbon, Adeleine, and the Animal Friends (and Gooey for good measure)! While Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede, and Bandana Waddle Dee are indeed awesome, it feels like something's missing when you just have four reocurring characters (one of them being recently added)... I still have a feeling that they might bring them back pretty soon, since they were mentioned in the Celebration Book that came with Kirby's Dream Collection. Those chances might increase to inevitable if they remake Kirby 64 for the Wii U or something, but the sooner they return in a new game, the better!

I've stated a 100 times that it would be huge if HAL did a 3D game. It would be like Super Mario 3D World to suit Kirby's normal platforming style and it could take advantage of Animal Friends for certain levels, have Adeliene give items and hints, and have Bandana Waddle Dee, Dedede, and Meta Knight as supporters. I feel those are the best cohorts of Kirby to come out of the series and it would be cool if HAL brought a lot of them back and in debut 3D game at that. That or make a Kirby RPG. (The desire burst in me after playing against the Computer Virus in Kirby Super Star lol).
PS: I also commend you for using Bandana Waddle Dee as he's become a staple character since Return to Dreamland (love that game) and behaved in the exact same manner as the guy from Kirby 64. Heck wouldn't surprise me if it were the same Waddle Dee just sporting a bandana in later games.

That does sound like an awesome idea! They kinda sorta made a Kirby RPG... as the minigame Kirby Quest from Kirby Mass Attack. It's a start, anyway. That game had awesome sub games too; originally the best selection in the series (in my opinion), until Kirby Fighters came along!
Yeah, after playing Super Star Ultra and then replaying Kirby 64, it just seemed to make a lot of sense that it was just Bandana Waddle Dee before he became distinctive from the rest of his species!

Me too, and the N.M.E. Salesman appears on the Game Over screen for Strato Patrol EOS (but I never got a Game Over in that sub-game, so I had to look it up to find that out)! Fitting, considering the final boss of that sub-game is Nightmare! They should really make a sequel to Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, but this time following the story of the games; kinda like a Kirby version of Pokemon Origins, but a full-fledged series as opposed to a four-part mini-series and covering all of the main series games from Kirby's Dream Land to Kirby Triple Deluxe and beyond! That would be epic (they could even find a way to keep the anime-exclusive characters, but that can be optional)!

That would be killer! Kirby's a pretty wicked franchise when you get past the cute artstyle. They should make new show that picks up where the old one left off and begin incorporating the game elements (have Dedede and Kirby get on better terms, have villians like Dark Matter and Magalor appear as story arcs, new friends like Ribbon and Prince Fluff appear, depict new abilities, etc). Kirby Right Back At Ya! is one of the only anime Nintendo has made for their franchises that aired in relatively modern times (post 90's) and it was a pretty darn good for its time. I recently started revisting a lot of the episodes on Youtube and have seen many people in the comments (especially the Kirby 3D episode which shows HAL hasn't forgotten how to make new stories) that feel the same way. I'd say it be a great idea.

So true! My only question is how they'll handle it once we get to Zero/Zero Two. Usually I'm not all for the violence getting bloody, but with Zero, it wouldn't be the same if they censored it out. But I know they want to keep it family friendly (which I respect greatly), which creates quite a tough decision. I guess they could air it online like they did with Pokemon Origins...?
