Andy Williams once sang:
''you're just too good to be true,
Can't take my eyes off you...''
The lyrics reffered to a woman, bit here, I would like to dedicate them to this picture...
As I see this wonderful view, I hear the sound of floating water, leaves rustling in the wind... I hear nature whispering to my ears: 'wake up from this numb state of mind and feel the world with all your senses'
You show a place so calm and peaceful... A place I dream of when I'm walking on crowded streets, seeing nothing else than concrete buildings emanating with grey colours and artificiality. People passing me are so absent minded and sad that they would not notice if somebody fainted in front of them...
In this artificial world the human kind created I prefer to put all my senses 'asleep' because not doing so could effect in myself going insane after some time.
I don't let this depressing views 'soak' inside me.
As I go to some places far away from towns, where there is still nature, animals, a lot of trees, plants... in these places i get really open... I breathe deeply and just can't get enough of the greenish surrounding. In other words, I charge my batteries e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>
This place You show looks so realistic. As if you took a photo and then only made slight changes in the graphic part. The way you manipulate the light is fantastic. It creates the atmosphere of warmth and freshness...
It soaked inside me even though I am only watching it on my PC.
If I was to choose a place where I could live for eternity, than this is the one!
thank you for sharing this e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h⦠" width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/>

Someone stole this... [link]
I'm trying to warn everyone that he stole from D:
It would help to report him, he's stealing from many artists...

looks awesome! I don't mean to be a smart ass or something, but I think the perspective of the house is not right... I've been studying perspective for the last weeks and I'm now obsessed over it so might be wrong here!

I see now that this was submitted way back in 2011... stupid me!
regardless the wrong perspective, the detail level and the composition are stunning!
I keep staring at it and try figuring out how did you do those leaves and grass and clouds and the roof top?? did you paint each tile on the roof, each leaf, each thread of grass individually?
sorry for asking such stupid questions but I just began a week ago to teach myself digital painting and now everything is like "damn, how can I do that? it's impossible!".
and there are so many resources on the internet that I don't know where to begin!

sorry for the late reply!
thanks man! this is the best advice I got in a long time! I'm a person obsessed with details so most of the times I get stuck on details and forget to focus on the basics.
I'm currently reading about perspective, watching a video tutorial about color and just bought a book with a drawing course (and this will teach me something about anatomy and composition).
and oh yeah... about a week ago I bought a Wacom Intuos5 M which is awesome!
So I'm still experimenting a bit with everything and hopefully I'll find my path.
I used to draw abstract stuff in high school (that's about 10 years ago... damn I'm old!) but then college happened and work and stuff and I forgot all about my passion.
And so I'm really grateful to find people like to you to give me tips and advice... once again: Thank You!

What program and which brush setting do you use? This is fantastic, and it has a real paint texture to it! Amazing.

Thanks! I used photoshop. About the brushes, I don't remember, this is an old piece. But mostly a round brush.

I'm no premium member but I have an opinion, gosh dang it.
Before I begin, first I have to say that critiquing this without first clicking so that you can view it at its full resolution is doing both you and JCBarquet here a BIG, BIG, BIG disservice.
I've only seen this kind of ethereal, expressive execution in one other format, and that is in tarot cards. the soft blending of textures into one another like this, and the way that there are no heavy-handed outlines anywhere to take you out of the image--it's more like the image draws you in, and you can almost smell the spray as you look deep into this painting. Even the smallest detail, like the cot hidden inside the hut, brings you in and you have a sense that there is life beyond the scene you're seeing here.
If I could, I would live in this scene.
I can't decide whether I'm more blown away by the vastness of the waterfalls or the delicate way the greenery and sakura blossoms are rendered. I keep thinking if I press my nose against the screen I'll see ladybugs toddling about.
Execution - 5/5
Impact - 5/5
Creativity - 5/5 (How the HACK do you get such crisp features without even the SLIGHTEST hint of outline!? I am ENTRANCED)
Overall - 5/5 - and you have a new watcher.
