Two of my favorite countries!  I don't understand why there is so much hate between the two; they are both influenced (for good and bad,) by each other.

The political news often makes a fuss about a trivial matter, but  I feel that most of people pay no attention to that

and enjoy cultural exchange with each other. I like Japan as well as China.

You're right, the media does tend to blow things out of proportion.  Both countries are lovely, but have their share of faults; mostly in government I think.

After seeing some anti-Chinese stuff (relatively) recently, I'm glad to see something to the opposite effect.

No matter what happens in politics, I don't want to forget a respect for foreign culture.

I wish some of my students could be a bit more like that.

The duality in this picture is a very unique dynamic, the somewhat opposing sides of the picture are not as blatant but still present. All of the differentiation is quite interesting in the subtler context, such as the girl on the left's red clothing (which I am assuming is cut more similarly to cheongsam) versus the girl on the right's (which I assume to be a kimono of some sort) The other differences between the two, (braids vs. free flowing hair, star earrings vs. round ones etc.) make the contrast very complete. However, as with the center binding of their hair the aspects that tie the two together and complete the picture. I'm not entirely sure just how intentional this was, but the color schemes you have for the two dresses meld together very well. The orange of the sash that the girl on the right wears and coloring of the outline on the other girl's dress. The orange and yellow present on one dress (warm colors) and the red of the other (another warm color). The background as well is very nice, the somewhat magenta center that creates a frame of gold around the two girls and draws the attention towards the two of them. It's very beautiful!

I'm so happy you observe various contrasts in this picture!
There was an opportunity for study about Chinese and Japanese culture when I studied abroad in Singapore, this work is based on the experience.

They are both very similar as well as they have a lot of differences at present, so I arranged those contrasts to depict their differences and the paradox.
Conversely, the center binding like a dragonfly represents their traditional link.

A dragonfly is said to be a sacred insect in my country because its form resembles the Japanese topography.
In addition, there is a dragon that is a Chinese sacred creature nearby on the red cheongsam as well.
