I've always wanted to learn how to do this, but never had the patience. I was supposed to for Graphic Design but just kinda... skipped over it and then ended up having dodged it entirely. I kind of regret it... but in the end it makes me appreciate people who have taken the time to learn and their creations that much more. Nice job

Practice Practice Practice. Look at my favorite also. They're are some really good tutorials spread all over deviantart. you just have to find them.
