Description I was really looking forward to see this movie, and I wasn't disappointed when I got the chance.. The reason I was so interested of it was that I saw some really awesome and touching fanart of it.. <3
So naturally I had to draw something myself. ^^

This picture was a WIP for way too long, so I decided to finally finish it (even though I'm really busy with other stuff)
It's not perfect, but I'm happy that I got it done

Poor Hiccup, I'm glad he has so many caring people (and dragon) around him..
I hope you like this picture.

One thing I liked about this scene and the following, is it broke the rules - Hero, Hiccup, defeats the Red Death and comes out on top not seriously injured like every other dragon/dragon rider movie.

What I meant was he defeats the Red Death, and unlike all the other shows dealing with dragons where the hero isnt seriously injured, he is

I've always imagined a deleted scene in the film when Astrid sees Hiccup's maimed leg and starts puking uncontrollably; it's her "I'm not so tough" moment when she's forced to confront the lie she tells herself that she's a big, tough and strong warrior who's fully ready for the fight. It's the moment when she realises that war, the warrior's life and the glory of battle isn't everything that the Sagas and Gobber had made out.

They seriously need a long vacation after that battle, they must have more than one kind of scars to live with for the rest of their lives...

This was really well done with the light and shadow, but especially the loving, concerned looks on Stoick, Astrid and Toothless. Toothless really shows his feline side here-- like a beautiful black leopard.

I think StoickΒ΄s expression is the most heartbreaking of all- I can see the love and regret and hope in there.

The details of HiccupΒ΄s torn clothes and wounds also adds to the serious of the moment.

Really well done!

I really like this movie..

I notice many mistakes in this picture now, but that's to be expected, I didn't have much reference... Overall I still like the picture a lot.

ah man i seriously need to practice my photoshop to get to cel shading.

a bit of a critique here...I nbotticed that Stoick's head is a little too big for his body (its the beard isn't it?) a trick i learned in life drawing class is to measure the body by heads the averge human is about 6-8 heads tall but in stoick's case I'd put him as 9 or ten heads tall. (get some ow to draw books they are a god send)

just keep practicing anmd you'll get it! *thumbs up(
