Whoops, Season 3 Finale spoilers. Sorry guys.So, I know most of (or at least the more vocal sections of) the fandom is kinda up in arms about Alicorn!Twilight, but I'm honestly kind of stoked for the change. I think they'll be able to handle it well, and do a lot of fun stuff with it.
Personally, I'm hoping for some shenanigans involving Twilight learning to fly.

Yes, this is exactly what I want to see happen for the first couple episodes, along with walking with her new gangly legs, not suddenly an Alicorny expert 2 seconds later...

I shit you not, this is EXACTLY how I expect it to go, along with things like knocking things over with them, blinding people and being very imbalanced.

As happy as I am to see Twi as an alicorn, I don't think it'll be a permanent thing.
Here is what I think Is going to happen:
Celestia offers Twi to become an alicorn for being an outstanding student/leader/whatever
Twi agrees, and becomes n alicorn.
she gets overwhelmed with duties/misses her friends and she talks Celestia into changing her back.
She returns to Ponyville and stays as her student.
End of story.
As touching of an episode that would be (twilicorn being permanent) I don't think she'd be able to balance Princess duties and friends.

In addition to learning to fly I can see Twilight running into the following problems:
* Trying to convince ponies in Ponyville to stop calling her Princess and treating her like royalty all the time, when she's still just the girl next door.
* Balancing her studies with her new royal responsibilities, which will probably involve bringing out the stars at night.

My point on the issue:
Isn't this show supposed to teach the lesson of friendship? That even though people (or ponies) change that doesn't change who they truly are and we shouldn't outright hate them because of such changes. That and the target audience is 5-10 year old girls - so princesses are FINE. I can't wait for the episode. I'm excited.
However, Lauren Faust is not happy with this at all. She had MUCH different plans for Twilight, but Hasbro needed to sell a new toy. Asshats. =n=

I think she is about as majestic as a bag of *icks.
This is going to ruin the fantasy-like perceptions of alicorns as some race of demi-gods and basicly turn them to nerds.Nerds who spent so much time reading that they actually grew a pair...of wings.

Don't get the up in arms, this actually CONFIRMS many many pet headcanons and theories. Shoot, when Celestia went into the whole 'destiny' bit in the season premiere, I was going 'holy shit does that mean the fan theories I wrote off were right' and this just... furthers the exact headcanons and theories I'm talking about. XD
It'll blow over pretty quickly, I figure. Cadence didn't cause anywhere near the stir everyone expected. XD

I honestly don't really care? Honestly, I can't see why they are so surprised. Alicorn!Twilight just introduces a whole new toy line. Which is the whole purpose of this show from the get-go.
Most are worried that beign a princess will mean she is no longer a main character.
But Twilight isn't really my favourite.
(But that's not saying much, I'm not really a fan of the show, I mostly just watch it so I can state my opinions on it and have some actual ground to stand on. Intelligently.
That said, I don't hate it or anything. I am rather neutral towards it. But all the fan art everywhere is getting tiresome. Stuff like this, though. I don't mind, but... yeah. xD)

Lol anyone who follows MLP on any site would have already seen the spoiler. The fandom shouldn't be all agitated at this for one reason... it's a show meant to advert Hasbro's toy line to little girls/kids... that is what it's really directed towards and some little girls would enjoy seeing Twilight as a princess x:

Yeahhh... Sometimes some of the fans forget that, despite the show being done so well and having a mass appeal outside the intended demographic, in the end it really IS a vehicle to sell toys to little girls. I get that they're worried that this will change everything, but considering that Twilight is still herself, just with a fancy new look and title (and whatever her responsibilities being a princess entails), I don't get what the uproar is about. x:

you know it is kind of funny because you would think fans would eat this up.. but I guess for many of them the idea doesn't work with their fanfics and such (not going too deep into that, shutters)
I mean I like watching the show, but I think people are blowing this way out of the water... I'll stick with my non-FiM style ponies since I know that it's not a cookie cutter thing XD

Haha, I couldn't agree more. So many people getting upset over something it really just isn't worth getting upset about. Twilight is still going to be Twilight, who she is isn't going to change.
