The depth of field on this piece is quite lovely, with enough focus on the background that you see the shapes of other greens in the background. I also love how there appears to be a few branches closer, which create a whispy effect in front of the focal point. However, I think this photo would have benefitted from cropping in a little bit, as there is a lot of dead area on the left-side and definitely more interest on the right-hand side. The photographer stated that she was testing out bokeh and aperture and I think that this piece demonstrates that she successfully tested out both of these techniques.

Without knowing how she took this photo, I would suggest for future similar endeavors to use a tripod and get a little closer to her subject (if possible). If not, the tripod should help with keeping her very steady for these close-up shots and make cropping a nice available tool.

All in all, not the most original photo in the world, but I think a great step into macro photography.
