to everybody who asked about the S v. N thing, it's S because it is wingless. another more referential and possibly more accurate reasoning behind it is because Masticore is a card from a card game called Magic: the Gathering, which resembles a manticore, yet is wingless. they also have manticores in M:tG, but i don't think it resembles the popular interpretation.

Cool picture, but isn't this creature normally called a 'manticore'? Unless there's some specific reason for the change in spelling
