It wass Photo Week a couple weeks ago, and we went on a short trip to the Toronto Zoo. I rented a 300mm prime and let's just say I am in love! I would love to spend more time with it at the zoo, I got a couple great shots of the lions but I had to rush around the zoo in order to see everything because I don't get to go very often.

Jerroh is such a handsome lion. He was sitting in the back of the enclosure just before the zookeeper brought them some food. Here he was probably looking over at his brother, Lindy. I just love the background and the greens. His eye markings are just beautiful!

Beautiful beast you captured him in a nice pose and the depth of field is perfect, the sharpness of the grass and flowers around him almost looks magical, fairy like.

That 300mm prime did some brilliant work with this capture. The depth of field is so perfect and makes this beautiful lion pop right out the frame. Great editing as well.

This is beautiful! I agree, the greens are fantastic. Why doesn't he have a mane?

Thank you very much!
I can't remember the whole story, but Jerroh and his brother Lindy were neutered at a young age. Lions who are neutered have little testosterone and either lose their mane, or have a very small, thin one.
