Just thought I'd point out that THIS IS CANON, just as canon as Loyd/Colette or Lloyd/anyone else. It's all in which ending you get. Though the sequel seems to point towards Zelos, considering that he can identify Lloyd's impostor by SCENT and is the only character who has any idea how Lloyd is or what he's been doing, or even has faith in him!

Glad you like my ideas/sketches! I love these characters so much, and my mental "archive" on them is one of the biggest and most comprehensive of all the characters I study. And it really helps that all of the subsequent spinoffs, sequels, adaptations, and escort titles have done nothing but encourage me, considering how much Zelloyd ship teasing there is to be had! Thanks for taking the time to tell me how you feel! <3

Oh my god man I went to your tumblr and read your story - most recent, I trust you- and it's five in the morning here- I have no hope of sleeping (work load is way intense) but I just wanted to say I loved it-I loved every single bit of it. Zelos was like done in ...two or three days for my wife. I played the game for her, and showed him, and from the moment she met him on it's been her favorite character/cosplay/just everything about him has tarnished her poor innocent soul.

Another tidbit about the sequel is that when Zelos first joins the party, he is wearing a (I believe it was a) Garnet ring, on which the description is something along the lines of "Will help you to find your true love." ... The only person Zelos is looking for is Lloyd. I don't know if their relationship is exactly canon, but Zelos is in love with him, and I'm fairly certain that that's canon.

I thought you might enjoy that tidbit. You probably know this next part, but in case you don't (and also so that you have my unsolicited opinion on it all, XD)...
The only scene that really makes any pair canon is the scene in the sequel in Flanoir, after you tell Emil who Lloyd went on his journey with. With any of the women--Colette, Sheena, Raine, or Prescea--Lloyd is very suggestive of romantic relationships with them. He admits to dating Raine if you choose her, and calls her his first love. With Sheena he hugs her from behind and gushes about all the things he likes about her. He admits to being in a relationship with Prescea and then immediately gets defensive of her "Don't get the wrong idea. Prescea is, she's much older than you think" then during the scene he promises to be with her forever. Emil says that Colette is "obviously in love with you" which seems to make Lloyd awkward, but then he says he loves Colette to her during their scene (surprisingly I thought this one was the easiest to be taken as just friends--they've been friends most of their lives, and the way he huggs her in the scene seems much more platonic than the hug he gave Sheena)
The scene with Zelos is a little more subtle, but I really think it's trying to imply a relationship there too. Lloyd calls him a doofus to Emil and says "He never shuts up, that guy" to which Emil says "But you're smiling" as though the look on Lloyd's face completely contradict the casual joking insults he's throwing at Zelos, and actually says that he likes Zelos a lot despite his words. Lloyd quickly throws out a "He's a good friend." Then during the scene in Flanoir, They banter back and forth about Lloyd's charms in a way that feels an awful lot like a flirty couple. Zelos tells Lloyd in an offhand tone "Well, go out and get hurt. You'll always have me here to back you up, so don't worry."
Lloyd, making the conversation suddenly serious, says "I'm not worried. I know you'd never abandon me."
Zelos: "You sure about that?" (implied reference to his near betrayal in game #1)
Lloyd: "I trust you." (definite reference to their conversations in game #1)
Zelos: "Oh man, you know I'm weak against lines like that."
And then it cuts back to Emil.
Not only is Zelos is the only one who never doubted Lloyd the entire game, but he is also the only one who, rather than demand that Lloyd never leave him again, instead vows never to leave Lloyd. Raine, Sheena, and Prescea all talk about how hard it was without him and/or just get him to promise never to leave them again. Zelos says "Go ahead and leave if you want. I'll be here when you get back." This feels as much like a romantic conversation to me as any of the definitely intentionally canon ones, so I'm in agreement with you. Lloyd and Zelos are as canon as any other Lloyd pairing in those games.

Heh, I was familiar with most of that, but I didn't really watch any of the other Flanoir scenes more than once, so I didn't realize that Zelos was the only one who turned the tables on Lloyd like that! Some of the scenes (Raine especially) kinda rub me the wrong way and feel forced. Maybe I like the Zelloyd one so much because it feels so natural, with all the banter and reassurance. Whereas Raine's was almost uncomfortable. And I agree, Colette and Lloyd are very close, and they obviously love each other. But I don't think they're IN love with each other, whereas Zelos is clearly IN love with Lloyd. Lloyd loves everybody, of course. But Zelos seems to match him best, and reading what you just wrote about the other scenes just confirms that. Saying "I missed you, don't leave me" just isn't as powerful as "don't worry, I've got your back," in my opinion. Like, Zelos comes across as the only one who would be an equal partner. He also seems less emotionally dependent on Lloyd in the sequel. I like interdependence, and the sequel Zelloyd scene really solidifies that for me.

I agree completely. Zelos and Lloyd would support each other. Or, well, Lloyd would support the world, and Zelos would keep him from keeling over under the weight of it. >__>
I feel like Lloyd would easily be able to fall in love with any of his close friends, honestly. He loves freely and easily and deeply.
I can totally see him having had a crush on Raine when he was growing up, and I can see her falling for him once he's grown up. Still, I feel like their relationship would really be as awkward as that scene was. It didn't feel unrealistic to me, so much as it was realistically... off balance. Raine was still trying to be the adult, and the teacher, while also trying to treat him as an equal and sort of trying to be the stereotypical lady in a heterosexual relationship. She seemed to be trying to support him, but it just seemed... well, awkward. Lloyd would always have a "hot for teacher" edge to his feelings, which would make him perpetually defer to her opinion in arguments and such. It wouldn't be balanced, so I would really not like that relationship, even though (if it happened) it would probably work for them just fine in their own way.
With Sheena Lloyd would be all about boosting her confidence. He adores her (as a friend, but also hypothetically as a partner) and wants her to be happy, so he showers her with compliments. Also that flusters her, and Zelos has commented a number of times that she's really fun/cute when flustered, so I kind of think Lloyd's going for that too (in a nice way). He tells her she's beautiful and smart and funny and strong and he loves watching her fight and he's so impressed with her and he just can't get over how awesome she is, etc. and she blushes and tries to deny it, and loves it, and loves him. But again this is him supporting HER needs, not really the other way around.
Colette and Lloyd are just such childhood friends that it's hard to imagine them together. I think their relationship would be exactly as it is, but more intimate. The best-friend-couple. Sometimes they really do work out. He'd tell her how great she is, and he'd kiss her face, and he'd do lots of home-repairs when she breaks stuff. More of him supporting her.
I feel like Prescea is actually the only one who would support him too, but he's so protective of her that he might not let her. He doesn't want people to think of her as a child because she doesn't like that, and he doesn't want her life to be hard anymore because it's been so hard up until now. He'd want desperately to take care of her all the time, and she'd let him. Which wouldn't really be fair to him either.
Zelos on the other hand, would buy Lloyd anything he wanted, lavish him with gifts, learn to cook just to impress him (did you do the curry scene in the first game where Lloyd tells him his cooking is good and Zelos goes bananas over the compliment?? One of my favorite scenes), hell he'd do anything to impress Lloyd. He thinks the WORLD of Lloyd. Meanwhile Lloyd would react exactly as happy and surprised and impressed as Zelos was hoping for, and it would all be worth it for both of them. Zelos would understand no matter how many times Lloyd needed to go off and save the world, because that's part of what he loves ABOUT Lloyd. I don't really get why the women don't seem to love that about him.
