Description 2016 Rolex Kentucky 3DE : EXTENDED June 10th (am)

-------------
Brody was a bit anxious for the first phase of the show - dressage. It wasn't that Brody's dressage skills weren't on point. He was actually very successful in the dressage ring. Clowner, his other mount, was a grand prix leveled dressage horse whom Brody danced around the ring with so eloquently. It was Feather. Feather, a massive thoroughbred mare was fast, powerful, brave and spicy. Unfortunately none of these factors resulted in a very good dressage horse. You want daintiness, Feather plods around the ring. Grace - Feather almost always trips over herself in every half-pass. Rhythm - well that only existed for Feather at top speeds in a cross-country course.
That being said, Brody had been working hard refining Feather's dressage skills. He had piloted her around a few cross-country and show jumping courses but the vast majority of her training for the Kentucky 3 day event was in the dressage ring. Her half-passes were less clumsy, she danced a bit more rather than dragged herself around and she was able to conserve her energy rather than exploding in the ring. "Brods she'll do great," Melissa assured him patting his back. She and Locket - a well-mannered Swedish Warmblood mare with a heart of gold - had just finished a lovely routine. Brody rolled his eyes, "Easy for you to say, Mel. You and Locket just nailed a great round" he said, slipping a steel blue bonnet onto Feather's golden ears. Melissa dropped a kiss on Brody's cheek, "You've been working so hard at your dressage with Feather, I'm sure your hard work will pay off. I believe in you" she said rubbing Brody's back. Brody took a deep breath and sighed, Feather followed suit and did the same. At least she's sane today, Brody thought reminiscing back to the 3 hours of work he did with Feather yesterday. He swung himself up into the saddle and got ready to go out into the ring. He gave Feather a light pat on her neck, "Let's go girl. Show them how much you've improved"

This was so much work holy cow! It was fun but I don't know how often I'll be doing this! Maybe it gets quicker with practice ;D
