Description
This is a pierced & hand engraved Argentium silver pendant with a Mexican matrix opal cabochon. This is a pendant we've made for a future collaboration with chainmaille jewelry artist Jessica Burnett ( Jessica Burnett's website~ [link] ).We used the same Mexican matrix opal we've posted here on DA in a previous deviation entry~[link]

That's funny... I had been thinking of names for this pendant that incorporated the word eye. The opal does look eye-like because of the white area around the pocket of opal. Some of the sellers of this opal type at the Tucson show were calling it "magic pocket" opal(:

Love the stone with the white components around the opalescent center. It carries on the flower theme so well.

Thank-you. I've wanted to use this opal for quite awhile but the height of the stone made it tricky to design around. The flower design seemed like a good idea. I'm glad you like it(:

I really like the way the engraving goes up onto the bezel. Was this cut in after the stone was set?
I love those opals as well. It goes great with your design, and it is stepping outside of the lillies motif. I can't wait to see what it looks like with the chainmaile.

Michael, The photo is a bit misleading I guess. I think what you're seeing is the reflection from the engraving on the bezel. Mark engraved the flower before we added the bezel.

Thanks... these photos are just terrible... very flat. They looked much better on my photo program. My friend Jess Burnett will be making a custom small link chainmaille necklace to go with the pendant... I'll re-post it once the piece is complete. We had planned to add a 22k bezel and 22k overlay to give the pendant more depth but decided at the last minute to leave it the way it was. I appreciate the comment(:
