I’m going to say what everyone else said and say that this is lovely…
But I also wanted to just be honest and laugh a little. I don’t mean to laugh at you or your
gorgeous painting, just at the extremely serious description of the history of this painting.
“Experts are at a loss to explain the strange man appearing in the mirror behind her.”
I know it’s a bit rude to be laughing at this, I just could help but think “and now, modern
scientists have found a man that looks exactly like the man in the painting; David Tennant!
They’re probing him right now for answers! We’ll keep you posted on what they find out!”
Anyways, great job and keep up the good work.

Well...I was hoping people would laugh a bit, I was when I wrote it. And the more serious the write up the more funny it is. Besides, have you ever listened to a real fine art "expert"? They tend to be pretty humorous, bless them.

So you actually based them on how real fine art experts describe paintings. Wow, now I see that your comments are even more
impressive than I originally thought. You must have done a lot of research to make this description, didn’t you?

Not really...one picks up numerous talents in art school.

Wow. You’ve been in an art school? What’s it like? Does it feel like your next to
an ancient piece of art or is it actually a really exciting place to be at?

Both. It's really exciting to be next to an ancient work of art.

Oh man, you just ROCKED the drapery on this one (I mean her dress and the curtains). That and the flowers...wow. As usual, the details are great..the candlestick, the table, etc. And that odd little mask in the lower left...

Oh thank you! To be honest there were several times when I wasn't sure if it would actually work (which I like to think is a sign I'm doing something right, weird masochist that I am) and funny enough, the curtains were more of a challenge than the dress in that their detail is far more subtle. The dress on the other hand wasn't a technical challenge as much as a task of patience and, as you can probably imagine, ignoring eye and wrist strain.

Yeah, I'm definitely discovering that a good pen and ink drawing is maybe one quarter composition, one quarter drawing skills, and half patience...

Much appreciated! Though you should have seen it during it's un-lovely stage...really had to hold my breath and dive in with nothing but a bit of faith for a few days.

Thank you! Actually, the clockwork robot in the bottom was a bit of an accident, in the original painting there was a dog there, but it was painted to dark, for whatever reason I read it as shadow and then discovered to my horror that I was wrong...way too late to fix it. Very lucky that happened.
