Well, I promised you the coloured version, so here it is

Not sure if it's better or worse, but as I predicted, it's... different. X'D

But! I really wanted to at least put some colour on it so that people would have an idea of what my species' look like, this being a reference and all.
(Who knows, if I get too grossed out by it, I might attempt a re-colour, but this fits the bill for now.)

anyway! from left to right we have:

'Dragon' (top left)- a race whose armoured bodies protect them from the vacuum of space during migration. Communicate telepathically.

Crocatiel (bottom left)- A small, fast reptilian species with a talent for learning languages. Friendly and welcoming towards all other species, they prefer to avoid conflict.

Altamaran (centre)- a tall, tree-climbing species with four arms. They have a vast empire controlled by a monarchy. Mortal enemies to the Dirga. Harness bio-technology.

Shremp (top centre)- a merchant insect race who accumulate wealth to adorn their shells with. Their ships serve as markets and spacestations to travelers.

Calliopae (bottom right)- Come in two different "races". All kinds have mystical powers, and the females have extra ears and a set of horns. This is a girl of the "plains" variety.

Dirga (top right)- a violent species who scour space for fuel sources, to power their dying planet. Will attack smaller vessels and scavenge them for anything of value.
