I'm not back from hiatus, but I'm leaving for conduit tomorrow so I wanted to post something. Another of my dryads, done with an odd assortment of whatever pens I could find... I think there's a felt tip pen, and a ball point... one of those disposable techinical pens, etc. Ooooooooold drawing. Can't remember what year I did it... 96? 97? something like that.Related content

This is excellent. I love her expression/poise. Palm trees make me think of southern California... and she is the epitome of what we are led to believe is the demeanor of affluent southern Californians.

You've captured the personality of the elegance of Palm Trees so well here Jess; it's really believable. Did I say in one of the other pieces, that I felt she could almost be wearing high couture? I'm sure I did... This lady too, her hair/hat/the leaves... I could see them on a catwalk (of the fashion kind, rather than the theatre *_~ ) in Paris or Milan.
I must say, I love your linework in these pieces - it's so different to your recent pieces, yet just as good in different ways, and I love that; the versatility and growth that you show.
One last point, for all the detail, I love the pure simplicity that this piece seems to exude

That's beautiful, I love how you might not notice the female element on your first glance at the picture. She's there but she doesn't stand out - much as I feel dryad's should be. Well done!

oooh... she looks so incredible! She makes me think of a very sophisticated, high up queen or something of a fantasy book. The kinda that would decorate themselves in plumes. It's gorgeous... she looks beautiful.

She's wonderful! I love the idea of a exotic/nontraditional dryad...you don't really think of other trees as having dryads, but now I can imagine a whole rainforest full of dryads...or a tiny isolated oasis in a desert with this lovely lady keeping watch. ^^

Oooh...i love this one! She looks so tropical - almost Jamaican. The palm leaves work as dreadlocks and her dark complexion is great. I love the pose too. Like she's turned facing the wind off of the ocean. She looks very proud and beautiful. Great work m'dear
