Description I've been playing the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, and I recently got the Romani's mask (which was a bigger pain then I remember from the original 64 version). I've always thought how silly it was that the mask is "proof" of Link's maturity, but it's such a silly mask to wear, at least in its context. I know it's meant to be more symbolic then that, but that didn't stop me from making this rough sketch of Link trying to "adult" at the milk bar.

Although I have noticed that the game, symbolically speaking, seems to make a bit of a point concerning children (Kafai's curse; the masked children in the moon; Romani; the Bombers gang; Pamela; maybe the Skull Kid)...

Maturity and adulthood (the Romani's mask itself; the Milk Bar; Romani being acknowledged as an adult on the Final Day, and can drink Chateau Romani; the guards initially blocking Link from going outside of town because he's a kid until they see his sword; Grog's chicks being made into adult chickens by the Bremen Mask; maybe the Fierce Deity Mask, although early development of the game showed what seems to be an Adult Link mask)...

As well as parents, notably mothers (Lulu, both mother and daughter; Cremia's hug to Link; Madame Aroma; Kafai and Arju looking like "mother and son"; Pamela's father; maybe the Four Giants, despite referring the Skull Kid as their friend).

Those are just the handful of examples I could recall. It may mean nothing, but considering that Ocarina of Time itself also had some symbolism of adulthood, albeit not as much as Majora's Mask (Fado acknowledges Link as a "real man" when he meets her; and of course Adult Link), I think it's possible that the child/maturity/parenthood motif (for lack of a better word) in Majora's Mask is a continuation of what Ocarina of Time left off. But that's just me.

On a further note, just thinking out loud, when Majora's Mask came out, it kinda bothered me that Link never wore fingerless gloves or gauntlets like his adult self did, despite his other forms having similar gauntlets - including his deku form, which is interesting. I know Majora's Mask was sorta spur of the moment in development, but it would've been a nice touch for Link to have those gloves/gauntlets, showing that he has (visually anyway) grown-up since Ocarina of Time.
