Hi, I think this looks really good, I love the background!
I'd maybe add shadows (darker line on the bottom of the knotwork) on the knotwork itself - to make it look more 3D. And I'd add a white line pretty much everywhere where should be a light coming from. I use gouache for this.
Otherwise I think you did a really great job!

Thank you for your feedback. I'm just finishing another knotwork and I see there's something missing and it probably is shadows. I'll follow the tricks you gave me. Thanks for taking the time to help me. I havent got many people around me to give useful critique.

The textures in this piece are so grounded and realistic, I honestly thought this was a three-dimensional project such as a carving, or a piece of leatherwork, rather than a two-dimensional painting. Well done!

Your watercolours are really improving. I love the contrast here between the clean, controlled edges and the awesome background textures.

Thank you! I really love making these knots, very relaxing although not very creative. I want to practice more and more to get my watercolors under control. There'll be much more of them the next few weeks. I think I finally got rid of my paintblock.

Late reply but I've just been musing on knots, since I have a bit of an on-off relationship with them. I love drawing them but I don't often end up with different patterns without putting some effort in. So I think they can actually be quite creative!

Yes they can indeed be creative with enough effort....But mine aren't. Have a good day!
