I took a picture of this poster I have (my sister bought it for me for Christmas, it's currently tacked to my ceiling!) for my GSA because we're trying to advertise/promote equality in our school, and let people know we're there for support in general, whether they're gay, straight, or anything in between. We accept everyone of all orientations, races, ethnicities, religions, spiritualities, and any other unrighteous prejudices you can think of. We're also campaigning for Safe Space, which pretty much means we're going to ask teachers and faculty members to put this flier we're going to make up in their rooms, and since no one will probably read them, announce to their classes that because their room is a safe space, they won't tolerate any kind of hateful comments or bullying in general to go on in their classroom or around them in general.I think our group is going to have an impact, and we're also thinking about putting the Safe Space symbol on each of our social media pages (facebook, tumblr, and twitter all included) and once we figure that out, I'll prolly put it up here on my dA page, as well. The goal is for it to go viral and have many people supporting the idea of equality to everyone, and to try and prevent bullying in both schools and online. Along with the symbol, we'll probably post a message on each page explaining what the symbol stands for and what we WON'T stand for.
Hopefully once this gets underway, some people here on dA will want to join in. If you can, try to not stop here on dA. If you have other social media accounts, put them there, too! Let everyone know you're not going to stand for bullying, and that you accept anyone and everyone, regardless of the prejudice.
Let's all coexist, guys. We can do it.

See, back just 4 years ago, I used to work at the Commissary of the naval base in Gulfport Mississippi. One of my coworkers, named Kimberly, Β just got married to a man that just so happened to be a Muslim man named Sabal. Now, for the first three weeks, they were doing fine. But then my friend got into a car wreck and had to have her left leg amputated.Β
Now, you would think that the husband would show at least some respect to show up for his wife, try to comfort her, and do everything in his power to help her with the medical expenses. After all, this is his wife we are talking about here.
Well, you would not only be wrong, but dead wrong.Β For you see, Islam treats women like they are nothing but material objects. This is literately the entire basis of Islam; murder, persecution, rape, theft, and tyranny.
The son of a bitch decided to, and I'm not kidding here, DIVORCE HIS FUCKING WIFE and tell her that she was "unclean."
Now I know you are going to tell me that that was an isolated incident, and that he was just a bad seed. NOPE. The mother fucker was already married to a woman in Saudi Arabia, and what's worse was that other Muslim men did this exact same shit when ever their wives were"unclean" (aka, suffered a permanent injury.)
This was not an isolated case, there were many men of this sicking lie of a religion that condoned
Oh, and his first wife was 7 years old when he married her. The reason I knew of this information was from my Kimberly herself after she dug into more information about the guy when he bailed for Saudi.

Being a Wiccan and a pansexual, I honestly wish my school had done things like Safe Space and had zero tolerance for bullies. But nope, I grew up in an age where if you were bullied for just about any reason and told a teacher, the principal or even your parents the general response was "Just ignore them, if they don't get a rise out of you they'll stop bullying you and move on." or even come really insensitive comments along the lines of "Well if they're bullying you then you must have given them some reason to be mean so just suck it up and move on with your life." It was a very hard time for myself and many people I knew as us 'bullied' types tended to stick together because we only had one another to rely on and found the only safety we had was in numbers. Even if we were just 'scrawny geeks', if there were three of us and only one bully they wouldn't dare try anything.
This is a very positive message, and I wish you luck in trying to spread it through your school and all around the world. As someone who didn't find a group willing to truly accept her until she was out of school and facing the world alone, I hope that this message will spread and fewer people will have to have an experience like mine.

Thank you so much, and I agree! I've only been semi-bullied, and even then, it hurt like hell. I hope that with this, the amount of bullying will greatly decrease. I have a hard time to believe it'll stop altogether, but I DO believe we can protect those that are bullied against their aggressors(:

I'm mostly okay. Still scarred for life and have trust issues, but now that I'm in college it's not all that bad. I graduated high school in 2008 so....probably mostly the early 2000's that most of that happened.
I'm just glad that it's gotten better since my time in school according to some younger friends and younger siblings of friends. It'll never completely stop, it's human nature to pick on those who are different or those you don't understand to make yourself feel better. I just hope that with a message like this those who are bullied will know there is help for them and that it does get better when they get older. I also hope there will eventually be stricter punishments for bullies rather than just being verbally chastised, which as far as I know is the best teachers are able to do even now unless the bully physically hurts their victim.

That's awful. About the same time my sister and brother were in school...my brother was bullied pretty harshly, if I remember right. He's gone through a lot. He doesn't talk to me about stuff like that, though, so I'm not really all that sure.
Yeah, that's pretty much all they can do. We're doing a lot about bullying awareness in our school ever since Fight Week happened about two weeks ago. There are posters hanging everyone and everything.
