Description "My Little Pony" seems to be the new "Twilight" - a remarkably divisive piece of cultural ephemera. I would be none the poorer if I'd never heard of either, but all net users know the deal. This guy dresses formally and stands on the far side of the "I hate" divide. I thought this cartoon would rile him up, but he actually loved it!

This is how Brony minds work. They try to fill in the blank so it becomes pony related.

I really think that MLP should only be enjoyed by the younger demographic and men in their 20s onward should learn to indulge in more age-appropriate programming.

Ha ha, I'm glad you think so.
I really don't know what's wrong with men that age indulging in that sort of thing, it's really a mar on society as a whole and I wish they'd realise that.

I don't think it's so detrimental to society to be an adult male and indulge in cartoons for different audiences. I acknowledge that some fans have been far less than responsible with their fandom, but there is no sense in casting out people for being indulgent. No harm no foul, right?

Additionally, I feel that simple things like cartoons are an important part of today's pop culture; MLP and other cartoons like Adventure Time and Gravity Falls will be looked back on ten or twenty years from now with fondness by the many who enjoyed such things. Cartoons especially are important to my friends and I, we all have different tastes in them and it is the experiences with them we get to take to adulthood.

And let it be known that I am by no means trying to discredit your opinion, but it's good to keep an open mind. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe being 20 years old and still going back to watch Bear and the Big Blue House is completely detrimental to society.

I can understand an interest in pop culture as well as staying up to date on things, and if you are able to watch the show and be a fan with some degree of responsibility is fine, but to be an older male collecting MLP figurines and wearing the merchandise and such is really not at all appropriate. These shows are to be looked on with nostalgia by the generation they are aimed at now, we've had our kids shows, we can look back on them. It also can indicate an unwillingness to grow up and mature which can be a stint to one's adulthood.
I can understand revisiting one's childhood memories and tv shows, but that is really quite different then being ravenously obsessed with a show for the new generation of kids. I go back and play with my Playmobile sometimes, as well as old action figures. But after I've had my time of nostalgia I put them back in their box and go on with my day. To be consistently indulging and swooning over such things is really not appropriate for someone of our age or older.

Heh, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks MLP is the Twilight of cartoons. God help us...

I hated it when I was a kid, and my stance remains the same now. Blargh.

I don't have strong feelings either way, but my flatmate's usually got it playing on one screen while wreaking havoc on another. It was more easily ignored before.

Gah, I just want MLP stuff kept out of my fandoms. Some "Bronies" ponify anything

I don't know why, but this really made me smile. I think it's the words "Al Caponey?", and the cutesy look on the MLP.

I can't say I'm into it, but it seems like upbeat fun. I've been hearing more about it as my flatmate is a fan, much to the annoyance of the mutual friend depicted here. The Facebook version upped the groan count with the title "Missed Aitken Identity."

The video itself reminds me of Supejail's animation.

That was PURE TWISTED GENIUS! Though I don't know whether I should congratulate the guy behind it or refer him to a shrink!

I've done a bit of animation and a lot of work went into that, but it was time far better spent than the usual online trolling et al.

I hate it when people are extremists, like "Love it and die, faggot!". I wish people would be more tolerant of (my) other people's interests.

Right with you there. In some countries people kill and die for religion, race or politics. I don't go a day without being grateful this rarely happens in my own, but the extent to which some of us get worked up about things like light entertainment, choice of music, etc. can be a bit troubling.

Stuff like that is why I watch the show. It just makes me feel good that something makes some people actually nice. It makes me happy to be part of something like this.

Nightbringer24 [2012-07-30 01:14:27 +0000 UTC]

Why would someone be riled up if they were shown in that outfit? I'd kill for an outfit like that.

Although on the whole pony/anti-pony thing, I'm somewhat in the middle. I'll admit some of the songs are catchy, but it certainly gets creepy after a while.
