Description
One project from my "Background Design and Layout" Class.The assignment was to paint an interior scene, of either a 'Laboratory', a 'temple', a 'space ship' or a 'tunnel'.
As you can see I chose to paint a Laboratory.
Done completely in photoshop with a Wacom tablet.

hehe... hehehehe. I REALLY like this peice, Ironically it's actually an image from a dream I had once. While trying to ponder what I should do for this assignment the image resurfaced with startling clarity in my head!
Now mind you.... I added a few things as I saw fit, but it's not all that different from my original concept! XD

o3o; Gosh Jianre...this looks like a photo! If it wasn't so surreal I probably would have mistaken the thumbnail-version for one. xD;
You did an incredible job with the detail throughout the piece, even in the far background. Some artists don't pay much attention to that -coughmecough- and that takes a toll out of the art. There's something in the top right corner though, I can't really tell what it is. It looks almost like the base coloring of another tube that just didn't get finished...But my eye was drawn to it right away and it keeps going back. ):

Hahah, this is all a bit ironic...
I needed to draw a laboratory background in my 5 panel comic for the Visual Language and Culture class... but I wimped out and defaulted to using a stock photo...
This is a really neat interpretation of a laboratory. I myself think of green bubbling stuff, tubes, and wires when I hear that word, so naturally I can identify with this! Really nicely painted, I love the highlights, the detail of the dripping tube, and also the little cracks in the stone. They all add up to make this look really friggin' good.
I cant offer any construction criticism, but if you wanted to make this a 'MUAHAHAHA EVIL' laboratory, I think sticking in some nice (well placed) secondary red highlights would kick majorly. Or maybe yellow... hmm...
But personally I like it as is... very mysterious and quiet, almost like it's been abandoned. Looks kinda cozy too!

ah, i c. i stayed home today, and now i feel bad, because my boyfriend was going to skip school cuz he was sick today, but when i called him last night and told me that, i was a little upset, so he apparently decided to surprise me and show up today, but i got sick last night, so ya... and he was worried about me all day! he kept asking where i was and sayin that he missed me, and now i feel like a total douchebag, and i cant get ahold of him, and ya...

awwww... that's too bad, but these things happen! I'm sorry he had to worry about you, but it's not something you should fret over yourself either, he probably wouldn't want you to stress yourself out, just wait until you CAN talk to him and explain how things went, I'm sure you'll be able to laugh at the irony later!

well his sister's bein a huge pest. she wants medicine scince she's a little sick, but shes not sick enough to really need it, so kenneth has to moniter her constantly. she keeps digging out all the medicine jars and yadayada, and he has to keep pullin her away and scoldin her.
