Description Here's another killed project, she was a planned ornament (I think) been a while can't really remember.. LOL
This little lady never really got finished at all... but I thought she really didn't fit under the theme "scraps" so.. ANYWAY... she was 4 inches from sword tip to toe and hung from a chain ... Also sculpted in Asbro wax.
Boy, I never realized how many killed projects I've done, LOL maybe it's ME! Maybe I'll finish her someday.. it's on the list.

Gosh, that's amazing, I'm always so impressed with people that do 'miniature' art
I didn't know that sort of tough wax exisited, very clever medium and I love the result you got.

she looks beautiful and finished to me - except for the hand without a sword - I assume that something is still to go there?

I love the details, her hair and face and then the swirls on her body - amazing!

AH! That's the chain she was going to be dangling from... she' was supposed to be an ornament of some kind, although I think she's look odd on a christmas tree.. I guess that's not the only kind of ornaments out there. hehe
Thanks so much for commenting!

Hee hee! I wouldn't mind having one of these around the house somewhere. If it were in a sturdy pewter, maybe hanging off a chain on a ceiling fain pull...

JillWilli In reply to pdRydia [2005-05-06 18:34:39 +0000 UTC]

Oh what an awesome idea!! Might have to be in something a bit more study than pewter.... but I think thats a great idea!! ... smell that smoke? You got me thinking!!
hehe
thanks!

i think the work with wax is so incredible... because its just so beyond me. The thought of making a mitake that you can't reverse by slapping on more clay... dunno if i could do it. I do love these pieces though.

When i found your stuff on elfwood i had a look at your site so i saw this one before, loved it then, love it now... Its great that you have you're a deviant now cause it means its easier to keep up with stuff you post...

And for those of you who have not yet discovered the joys of studio willich... go there.... go there NOW and educate yourselves ... really looking forward to seeing more stuff

Grotsky In reply to Grotsky [2005-04-21 09:45:02 +0000 UTC]

ah... you make it sound so easy! Heheh... i don't think i'll be using wax for a while... its something I'd love to try if i was more into sculpting... but i am but a humble media student who doodles in his spare time! Thanks for the exp though

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

JillWilli In reply to Grotsky [2005-04-19 02:07:37 +0000 UTC]

LMAO, Oh your too sweet!!
The wax isn't really anything all that different than clay, it's actually a bit easier... if you wanted to get technical, you know how you might not be happy with the position of a head? You can just snap it off and basically weld it back in place where you want it. I have this tool, it's called a wax pen and I can just basically re-weld any area back together. Also I can build up the wax (drip by drip), when it's cooled (in like 2 seconds) you can carve it, sand it, etch it, what ever. The only down side is it's not a final material, it's something that you need to have cast to have a final product. The wax lasts forever though, so you can take your time.. you don't have to worry about it crumbling (like unbaked polymer) or getting old. I've got wax pieces that have been sitting around my studio for 6 or more years... LOL
I guess that's my "forever gage" so .. maybe I shouldn't use that word.. but you get the idea.
Anyway, thanks so much for the props, I'm much happier with Deviant too.. much more easy access..

JillWilli In reply to skiesofchaos [2005-04-25 04:02:10 +0000 UTC]

LOL, she's still hanging out here in my studio... still in wax. I have to modify her and have her cast (someday!) but I don't know what to change her into, not to mention she isn't finished..
She's been waiting for over a year, *oops!* and still my someday list grows ever longer...

I'm a big fan of the vortex!! (although you might not see it so much in my work) It can be a hard place to be.. not finishing anything -I've been there with my own stuff (projects) for the past 8 months... bummer. But anyway, thanks so much, I'm thrilled you like her!

Wonderful

Does that wax not melt during working with it?
Lovely detail... but that's what we know you for

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JillWilli In reply to Helens-Serendipity [2005-04-18 17:06:55 +0000 UTC]

Actually no, it's got a pretty high melting point (over 200 degrees) so you can handle it and carve it without it falling apart on you. Kinda like a bar of soap, maybe a little stronger.
Thanks so much for your comment!

Killed or not, the work you've been posting is amazing.

Have you ever sculpted any candles? (ex: the ones shaped like dragons)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JillWilli In reply to BrokenEver [2005-04-18 17:33:50 +0000 UTC]

Nope, no candles yet, I'm not really sure how those are done. But I can tell you as a little squirt (I mean like 4 or 5) I started sculpting my crayons... I used my fingernail and made little turnings (looked like Taj Mahal, or those cool Russian buildings) .. that was a fun pass time actually. hehe used to drive my mother nuts since it would turn my finger nail what ever color crayon I was sculpting.. AND I wasn't using them how they were ment to be used.. AND I was leaving shavings all over the place.. LOL
Of course when I was finished they were "works of art" to my young mind and no one was allowed to color with them.. heh
3D all the way baby!
