I saw her while walking to the metro from this Film Festival I had just attended. It was 9 PM. She was all alone. No guardians anywhere around. I have seen many beggar children, but none this small. She wasn't saying a word. Just sitting quietly and holding on to her coins. There was a man nearby, watching her. A man in saffron robes; a sadhu. My friend and I stood around for a while, trying to see where her guardians were, trying to figure out the intentions of the sadhu. But it was late, and we were two females out at night. I walked up to her, took this photograph, and gave her some money.

I walked away.

So many of us did. So many of is will.
