This was done for EOW over at conceptart.org.I.. hate painting cityscapes. My perspective skills are so bad, haha.. it was kinda frustrating at one point, until I finally nailed down where the buildings were and stuff.. I'm sure there are a lot of problems with this piece, but meh, with practice...

That's really, very awesome. I hope you don't mind my asking but... what brush did you use for the city? And what program? I'm sure it doesn't make a difference, but I'm always interested to know what brushes an artist uses ^^

I understand, I'm also always interested haha. I used Photoshop to paint this, I have access to custom brushes from a couple other artists that I used here. One is just a flat brush that follows the direction of your tablet movement. I used that to block in the shapes, which took forever I might add. As for defining the shapes more clearly (i.e. shapes of the buildings), I used a combination of a square shaped brush and hexagon brush.. is hexagon 6 sided? Haha, whatever shape is 6 sided. As for detail, I used brushed that were simply several lines, like a rake.

Mid ground buildings are very good. The foreground looks a bit unfished in comparison though.

That's the wonderful thing about concept art it doesn't have to be perfect.
I really should begin to fiddle with concept art myself, now that I have more time on my hands.

nice landscape jeff. Is it your monitor that isnt calibrated? Cuz your images are always soooo dark. It doesn't have enough highlights~ This piece has really good composition, keep going
