No one is quite sure what he's swearing, it's up to everyone's individual interpretation. I think, personally, that he's swearing that 1. he'll either make their dreams come true one day, or 2. he's just so incredibly sorry for everything that happened. (The shirt symbolism is clear, though. It meant that Jack had always kept Ennis inside his heart when Ennis was gone, and now that Jack is gone, Ennis will do the same. Heartbreaking, really.)
Either way, brilliant movie with a lot of great messages, even if they were pretty tied up in symbolism. <3

I know everyone has said it, but I managed not to cry through out the whole film, until that scene and I was crying like a baby! It was so unfair, I wish they could have just lived together on the mountain all safe and happy

*sobs* I cried and cried at the end of the movie! me and my sis could not stop crying! I got a picture off the net and it is a quote from the movie.
