Love the colors, and you do well with faces and hands. I could never use watercolor, no way to erase, LOL!

Thank you! I appreciate it. By the way, I went to look at your gallery. It's nice! But what exactly is oekaki? A lot of people have spoken about it but I don't know what it is!

The word "oekaki" literally means "doodle", but it has come to refer to a painting program, oekaki paint bbs, or oekaki bbs, where you draw in the applet (program) and then post it, and then people can post comments on them.
Very useful, and fun!

True, but...traditional work is so impressive to me, simply because I can't do it, for whatever reason. It has a weight to it that is hard to find in digital work.

Yeah...I suppose so. I'm more easily impressed if someone does something really well in traditional media that with digital media. But at the same time I know from experience that digital work is hard!

True, but in most cases, there *is* the undo button, and that makes it a million times easier than it has to be. And although you can get texture and depth with programs, it takes longer, and yet it doesn't have the character, the personality, the style of traditional media.
As much as some programs try to mimic the effects of traditional tools of the trade (ha, go alliteration), they still can't quite capture the ...well, the best way to put it is a connection to the earth, or perhaps to the person painting/coloring/sketching the picture. That isn't *quite* what I'm looking to say, but..I hope the message gets through anyways!
Also, with digital media, there is never an "Original" that you could sell. It will always be just 1's and 0's, a piece of visual data ready at hand for anyone and everyone to see. And the artist can never reach out and *touch* the picture. There will be no dents in the paper from your pen, no warping of the paper from your watercolors, no texture or smearing from pencils, only a screen, or a paper it was printed on...nothing you can touch and *feel* the progress of the picture. That is why I haven't given up on what traditional tools I *do* use.
I'm not dissing digital, because I *do* love it. I just wish so many people wouldn't diss the traditional. I hope I made sense.

Oh, it makes perfect sense!! I love both digital and traditional, I've just noticed that there are some people who don't think digital is 'real' art. But it certainly is! But you are right, there's no *actual* piece to touch...

Yep. So, i'll just say both types are very real and time-consuming ways of producing art. And each has their own benefits and drawbacks.
I don't want to say one is better than the other, though, because I don't think that. I think both are wonderful, when there is visible effort and soul put into it.

I agree. What's good is good, no matter what medium is used!
