Description
A good friend of mine owns a stellar comic shop in Puyallup WA called the Comic Evolution [link] and he's had several artists contribute pieces to his store walls based on Da Vinci's Virtuvian Man and here's mine.

I'm hand delivering it to him at his store tomorrow where we will be holding a charity event for the March of Dimes as well.

This was done on 14x17 bristol, and my scanner couldn't quite fit in the extreme sides of the image so I'll try to get a better scan from the print shop and maybe replace this one.

Just finished putting the final touches on it about an hour ago - I went with more of a loose inking style, visceral, organic, raw - in an attempt to harken back to the likes of Buscema and Chan for this Hyborian tandem.

The whole thing was laid out roughly in pencil first, then inked.

I had inked up the right hand snake head first, then wanted to match the left hand one as close as possible, so I made a copy of the the RH one and used it as direct reference for the other one.

The snake scale pattern is somewhat based on reality, but not totally. The right hand tail actually has a slightly hidden "E V O L V E" spelled out in it's pattern which I think my buddy will appreciate. Love hiding stuff in images
