Originally, these were both going to be separate updates. I made them into a two pager kinda last minute. Partly because they flow well together. Partly because I wanted the story to move along. And partly because there're a lot of important things said here that I wanted out (there's like seven very noteworthy panels, but I'll only going into a few). I know you're going nuts right now about how Rain will do at school, but she will arrive in Monday's update. ^_^
And with that out of the way, let's focus on THIS exchange here, because there's so much to take from these pages (and from every character no less). Good thing you'll have all weekend to dissect it.

Rain is suffering horribly, and the first thing you do is rip into the person that was there for her when you weren't?
A grudge is one thing, girl, but seriously, this is just being petty.
PS: Amazing storytelling, Jocelyn. I actually like how you took Maria's reaction because it's realistic. Having had grudges against ex-lovers who still were in my circle of friends before (and had a grudge against myself from same) I can tell you the drive to blame the person whom you feel wronged you for other wrongs in their vicinity, beyond all logic and sense exists. Yes, it actually happens that way. And, just in case people couldn't tell, those first three lines were just me venting at Maria

I am not surprised too see that Maria gets mad about Rain, after all they do have certain history. I have never though of Chanel as a tomboy, but given that she likes Lolita style dresses I am not too surprised that she would know how to style hair, maybe by trying different things too see what she liked. I actually speculated that Emily might cut her hair off for Rain, but if she asks Rain she would probably say no. Maybe Maria is starting to understand that Emily really does care for Rain, and that perhaps she is not as bad a person as Maria thinks she is.

"Least of all, from you." A rare moment where Maria gets justifiably burned. Impressive.
There are so many things to talk about, here. First off, Rudy and Gavin seem to not understand hair very well. Which is strange because "Ruby" manages to be pretty stylish most of the time. Beyond that, I'm glad Chanel is taking a logical look at how Rain can work with her new short hair.
Emily once again makes the very important point about how confidence is vital. And dang, those last two panels... I feel like Emily is maybe catching on to how Rain feels about her, but it's hard to tell how she's really processing it. Rough situation.

Hmm, looking at Chanel and the bit of hair hanging at the sides, not tied back, would indicate that she has some idea on how to style hair and has probably experiment in some way, at some point, to get her hair looking the way she wants it. ^_^ So ya, I am also surprised at how surprised Gavin and Rudy are, that Chanel knows something about hair styling.

well most boys who never had long hair can hardly imagine how much work some hairstyles mean, its probably just a lack of experience,
i mean look at their complex hairstyles .

To be fair, they don't usually teach boys how to do hair. They just cut it off and tell them to put a comb through.

Come to think of it, Rain was the only one who ever changed hairstyles on a regular basis (the braid, the ponytail, hair down)

First off, I am really enjoying how humble Emily is (even if she is beating herself up, for not protecting Rain). I really like seeing the "real" Emily come out more and her relying less on her "high and mighty" mask (hope she earned some respect points from Maria from opening up like that).
Also, some really good points by Chanel.
I am guessing that the guys don't know about Chanel's love for Lolita type dresses. I would imagine from that, she might know a thing or two about accessories and/or hair styles. Than again, as someone who also wears the same pony tail each day, it took me a few tries to find something that worked for me. These included trying different clips, hats and scrunchies till I found that a pony tail worked best. Who knows, maybe Chanel went through a similar process and thus learned about different styles that way. And thus ends another sessions of me thinking out loud ... your time may have been well wasted.

I have been sort of unofficially learning it, I know some of the character and can actually read some of it, and I know a few words. There are parts that are easy and some that are hard, but I heard it is easy to learn. I have a book called Japanese demystified that breaks it down fairly well, it might be something you want to try when you get around to wanting to learn it.
