Joe-Lynn-Design In reply to pagan-poetess [2012-02-12 12:15:36 +0000 UTC]

Its been awesome. It hasn't dipped below -30 and there's been very few days its even been below -20. Its been cold a couple days now but giving back to 0C for the coming week. Best winter I've experienced.
Typically it should be -40 all of February with wind chills to -50 but we aren't getting it. I sure hope it keeps up but it looks that way till the end of the month anyway. Also we haven't had a foot of snow all winter Its been really great.
I'm glad too cause we just moved to another house and it could have been a hard move in the cold.

that's fantastic!! we had one rather cold snap here (nothing like you experience in manitoba, though!) but other than that, we've had it pretty lucky this year as well! glad to hear you're doing well on that end, too!!
oh, yikes, i can't even imagine having to move in -40 weather!! glad you didn't have to deal with that!

When we lived in BC in the Rockies it reached -30 for a couple of weeks but it was 2 of the easiest winters I ever had till this one. We're from the east coast and winters are really nasty there. It usually -20 but will reach to -24 at times. Its not the temps, its the humidity and the strong winds. 80-100 km/h is just another day there. I was a fisherman on the Atlantic for 30 years. Right in the brunt of it. Nasty I've never seen anywhere else compare.

i'm such a baby, i don't think i could handle it!! wow, being an atlantic fisherman.... i can't even imagine the kind of harsh weather you've had to deal with!! you must definitely be a trooper!!
oh, wow, what was it like to live in the rockies?! i've passed through a few times on the way to alberta, but i feel as though i'd really like to take more time to explore them and appreciate them!

Yeah, I'm a bit tougher than I want to be. Seen a lot. That's all behind me now
Now I'm thousands of kms from the sea. 5 years now :shrug.

It was nice in the Rockies. I had a store there so didn't have much time to get out the second year I was there. I really enjoyed the first one though

gosh, sounds like it!! yes, manitoba must definitely be different than the atlantic!! oh, neat, what kind of store did you have? what was your favourite part about the rockies?

Joe-Lynn-Design In reply to pagan-poetess [2012-02-15 16:02:03 +0000 UTC]

I sold my photography as fine art and canvas prints
Now I do matting and framing too. I'm just getting set up here in Winnipeg.
I was near Yoho. I would have to say that's my favorite Park. Jasper is nice for the views but Yoho seems to have more breathtaking scenes. Like this [link]

Thanks
Well it hasn't been easy and I still have a long way to go. I've sold quite a few now but still not enough. I work very hard at it and have my home set up as a gallery now.
Its really hard to get people to come and look but when they do they are amazed

Well we planned to venture through the badlands when we left but didn't realize we needed to go a different way so we didn't get to see much either. These were just down the road from our campground. Its full of people here. This is just an attraction really. Its just at the start of the badlands. There are stairs and everything and people everywhere.

Yeah honestly you likely could pretty easy but you would never get to keep it unless you smuggled it out of there There's a store there that has one for sale for $13,000.
Its about 5 feet tall.

I would trade it all for it!
Becky wouldn't be happy but at least I wouldn't have to hear it cause she'd be traded!! Hehe!
