Congratulations on the DD.

Instant Fantastic flame. Always great to see something new.

To me it looks like a stylized version of the Empire State Building, right down to the art deco feel.

Can I make a request for an Apo tutorial specifically for ngon variation--both in the fractal and as final transform please?

This is absolutely fantastic, and makes me want to figure this thing out a bit more. I whacked a pretty basic sinusoidal around with it last night, but couldn't quite figure out how you DO it.... (Granted I'm not asking you to reveal all your secrets, but maybe to just explain how one could use this variation a bit more? Thanks.)

I especially like your blues and whites against the black...very beautiful. Makes me think of a blue stained-glass window almost.

JoelFaber In reply to DeepChrome [2006-09-12 19:51:00 +0000 UTC]

Try playing with my brother's Disc Spiral Tutorial but instead of a Spherical Final transform use an Ngon final transform. Just leave the fxf at the origin until you you understand how all the parameters work.

I haven't found NGon very useful as a regular transform. In this flame NGon is the final transform. It is just a basic part of a much more complex flame. I've got Disc, JuliaN and blur that do most of the work.

DeepChrome In reply to JoelFaber [2006-09-13 00:52:19 +0000 UTC]

OK. At this point I figured it was meant to function as final transform. Right after I posted that prior message I started messing about with it as a final transform, and for the sheer hell of it, I decided to see what it did to a rotational set at 1000 in the order setting. Came out pretty nice--it's the piece I'll be uploading soon.

I'll have to remember those other variations then. Thanks for the tip.

I just realized that I didn't give you a link to the tutorial I mentioned. It is here [link] if you don't have it already. It isn't a beginner's tutorial, but it does have some really good ideas in it, if you're interested. It inspired me a lot!

Thanks for the information. I'll try that sometime. I really like how it's picture by picture as an image series.
