why did they even include Storm King in the movie at all? he's only in it for 15 or 20 minutes, and when he does show up, he's more of a goofball than a actually threatening bad guy. if i were to re-write the movie's script, one of the things i would've done is completely write Storm King out, and make Tempest the main villain

(I know this comment old but why not?) I heard in the comic the Storm King has a role and heβs very big threat. But knowing Hasbro, Iβm not really sure if any of MLP comics is canon at all.
See this is why Fan Fictional stories exist, we can write background, characters and story how we wanted. Depends how good your writing is and hopefully agrees with you and realize the reason. Most people will accept anything what the show or movies has to offer and other people donβt accept it and make their own head canon.
