Description These are Enlisted members of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army fighting for the Bolshevik cause during the late Russian Civil War/Post Civil War period during the establishment of the USSR.

The first man is wearing a Soviet "Shinel" basically meaning Tunic, in 1922 this uniform was changed from the previous 1919 version, a different cut to the chest flap was designed, the old external pocket flaps were removed and replaced with slit pockets, larger coloured chest valves were also added with the new Soviet insignia brass buttons. Insignia was now branch specific, the big red star was removed and replaced with a "Narukavnyy Klapan" insignia was added which basically means "Sleeve Valve" this elongated pentagon shape had a Red star and red rank insignia sewn into it, the backing colour would vary however the insignia itself would remain red whatever the branch of service.

Between 1923 and 1924 the insignia was edited, the chest valves were now piped, for example Infantry was piped with black (Which would carry on through to the M35 Insignia used in WWII), some branch Budenovka stars were piped as well as the collar tabs and sleeve valves.

The designated Branches of Service are:
1. Infantry (Magenta)
2. Cavalry (Blue)
3. Artillery (Black/Red)
4. Aviation (Light Blue)
5. Armour (Red)
6. Yellow (Signals)
7. Light Green (Railway Troops)
8. Frontier Troops/Border Guards (Blue/Dark Green)

Awesome. It looks like they're ready to kill some mammoths in their natural habitat.
