Description These are Enlisted members of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army fighting for the Bolshevik cause during the late Russian Civil War/Post Civil War period during the establishment of the USSR.

The first man is wearing a Bolshevik "Gimnastyorka" basically meaning Tunic, in 1922 this uniform was changed from the previous 1919 version, the button flap was moved to the middle of the chest and a forward-point collar was added instead of the traditional "Mandarin" style collar. The trousers were also edited, adding branch coloured piping along the seams. Insignia was now branch specific, the big red star was removed and replaced with a "Narukavnyy Klapan" insignia was added which basically means "Sleeve Valve" this elongated pentagon shape had a Red star and red rank insignia sewn into it, the backing colour would vary however the insignia itself would remain red whatever the branch of service.

The designated Branches of Service are:
1. Infantry (Magenta)
2. Cavalry (Blue)
3. Artillery (Black/Red)
4. Aviation (Light Blue)
5. Armour (Red)
6. Yellow (Signals)
7. Light Green (Railway Troops)
8. Frontier Troops/Border Guards (Blue/Dark Green)

Funnily enough some of the earlier uniform designs were more functional than the 1935 ones, at least these versions had lower pockets! But very true, I think the Bolshevik leadership was trying to "find their look" at the time, because the original 1918 uniform was more designed just to "look different" than the White Army, but now they had the power they probably thought "We really should design something a bit better and less confusing." and they finally worked out a good design in 1924! xD
