Description Inspired by a spirit from Papua New Guinea, Dama Dagenda.
When I was 10 or something, I received a big book about legends and folklore of the world, and the pages about the "calling spirits" truely impressed me, especially the part about the Dama Dagenda.
Here is something I found on internet about it, the book said nearly the same thing:

"Jungle spirits of Papua New Guinea, the dama dagenda resent intrusion into their jungle habitat and will inflict painful sores and ulcers upon those who dare to intrude. They understand the languages of all the human tribes in the region, but it will be useless to plead them for guidance as they will simply ignore you. However, if you can learn a language that they do not understand, you should sing or talk loudly to yourself in this language as you walk along, as the spirits will waste time trying to decipher your gibberish and by the time they catch on to the fact that you have tricked them, you will already be beyond their reach."

There was absolutely no description of it, so I pictured it like a winged beast wearing a mask, feathers and herbs on its head. I drew it several times and was pretty obsessed by it for a while; I guess it has really left its mark.

I felt it was the time to draw Dama Dagenda, calling spirit of the forest, one more time. So here he is.

Drawn in the train, then edited with Photoshop.

I cant describe it but this creature has something really neat about it, I think it gives me some kind of unique fantasy apthnesphere (now there were propably a big spelling error).

Maybe he just makes himself creepy in order to keep the people out of his forest by scaring them.
Thanks

He/she has eyes of wisedom, even for a imp type spirit. Looks like as such to me.

I *love* this guy. Reminds me a little of a Brian Froud drawing (but with your signature style of course!) Great work!

Whoa, I just love Brian Froud drawings. I received Faeries as a present when I was pretty young and I still read it sometimes.

That's a huge compliment you've made there (honestly I don't deserve to be compared to Mr Froud, he is a genius), so have a hug
