Description
This is Gunnery Mistress, Mary Jane O'Sullivan of the Privateer, Elegant Faith. Here she is ready for combat, fitted with her hooks, devised by Bob Martin, ship's carpenter of the Bluebird. Bob has designed one with a spring lock so that Mary can hold things with it. She wears an eye patch here, not to cover a wound but to protect at least one of her eyes from any shrapnel and sparks whilst in battle.
